Sad  It was very sad to see,and a huge relief for all of us at the startline to learn he was out ok,looks like a rod let go and the oil caught fire taking the rear of the car with it, was a little like watching a top fuel car let go with a big cloud of flame Shocked

I am sure he will be back out soon, better than ever Smiley  Good luck Bernie

cheers richie,uk

It was one of those moments you dread but now that all is said and done it seems there is a plan for 'Stitch Up' so all the best with that to Bernie, Carol and crew. I know we'll see you at the track between now and then but I'm looking forward to seeing the car back out and nailing that number.

It is one of my favourite car.  Sad  So nicely detailed and kick ass performance.

the most important is that nobody was hurt.

I hope you and Carrol are both well Bernie. It was a real shock to see your car go up in flames like that mid track. I had a proper lump in my throat as did Mat Sanchez who was standing right next to me.
Big respect to the fire crews at Shakie for they spotted the accident mid track and were on the gas before Bernie even pulled over. Without their amazing response the damage to Stich Up would have been even more extensive. A big round of applause to their dedication.
If there is anything I can do to help out Bernie, please do not hesitate to call.

Thank you Matt and everyone else who has posted or phoned me. I agree about the fire crew as I have now cleaned the mess and the bodywork is nothing that Simon cannot handle easily. Fire damage to the interior is not a problem as I know a man that can sort that. Wink I will not know the damage to the engine until it is stripped later this week but I am hoping the heads are ok.
