I am selling a 2332cc Type 1 engine due to lack of time and a change of plans. Everything is new, the motor has been driven on the street for about 10km and has seen seven quarter-mile passes with about three being full WOT passes. These were in 2013 in Bug Run Classic, has been stored ever since with rockers bolted off and engine turned over by hand every now and then. Never been to a dyno. It's built with tender love and care over time, not just bolted together.

The sale includes everything you need for burning rubber and racing :
1) Install the fuel pump, fuel hoses and ignition boxes
2) Install the engine, bolt on the rockers, adjust the valves
3) Add oil and gasoline
4) Fire it up and go drag racing!

Performance
Ran 12.7/165km/h with a 1.8 60ft on slicks in a heavy all-steel split window beetle with a +120kg driver in Bug Run Classic in 2013. The transmission had a close-ratio 1st and 2nd, but stock 3rd and 4th gears. Running through the traps with either 3rd or 4th made no difference, lots to be optimized with gear ratios. Pulled two wheelies.

This was ran on the car's first outing and the first passes were about tuning the A/F ratio. Estimated power output is around 200 horsepower, can most likely be optimized in a dyno.

Compression ratio: Around 11.5-11.9:1, runs on Shell 98 regular gasoline. (My notes on comp ratio were lost during moving to a new garage)

Camshaft: JPM Raptor 01308, 287 degrees@0.05", 11.43mm cam lift, 108LC.

Pushrods: JPM 7075 dual taper (Gene Berg chromoly push rods included)
Pushrod tubes: JPM aluminum (Jaycee black & silver aluminum pushrod tubes included)
Rockers: Pauter 1.4:1 roller rockers
Valves: 48x38 Manley stainless steel
Valve springs: JPM OTEVA75 dual springs (K-Motion K800 springs included)
Retainers: JPM Alumec
   
Cylinder heads   
Cylinder heads: 48x38 Superflow, Gene Berg valve cover conversion for stock-style valve covers
Valve covers: Scat stainless steel, original style
Flow figures: 216CFM@16mm lift @25" on a SuperFlow 600 flow bench

They actually banned my ad on the Samba for a while. I was confused but when the ad came back online, they'd paintbrushed white on top of the vintage photo on the tool cabinet door. I guess someone didn't like my taste in decorative photography?  Wink
