Most of the parts can be also separated :)

Also found some boxer dohc engine and Indy V4. V4 is available only as a picture, boxer can be downloaded as a 3D cad.

What the hell is this dohc watercooled boxermotor? :D  Its seems to be based on a Type 4 motor, huh? :)

I'm curious, What Modeling software was used to model the engine, and transaxle in the beginning of this post?  Also, what software are you using to look at the engine and transaxle assembly?  Are they surface models or solid models?

I used to do this type of work for a living, 3D solid modeling, assembly modeling, as well as tool design work in the aerospace & automotive industry. I did this for 20 years using Unigraphics, Catia, and what was SDRC IDEAS.

The models look fairly detailed, nice work.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hello,

Some of these CAD models are made by using Solidworks and Autodesk Inventor. I have used both, Solidworks is what i have used daily at work 4 years, doing automation and steel structure etc designs.

This is the page:

Also sometimes i use this:

Really interesting, and very impressive work with the IRS transmission. Look incredible detailed..... Do not dare to think about how many hours they have put into this work. I also work with 3D design (NX5/Unigraphix) in my job, where I design fuel injection equipment for 2-stroke marine diesel engines, in the range of approx. 5000 - 100000 bhp. So I have a fairly good idea what they have gone through in order to get this done.

Regarding the 16v Dohc watercooled "type 4" engine, it has it's background in the german Käfer Cup, where Dr. Jozef Gerold have competed with several super beetles (1302 and 1303), from 2.9 liter type 4 pushrod, 2.9 liter type 4 OHC (porsche 911 heads), and also his own engine design (Holzapfel Tuning):

Intro:

Specific 911 OHC "kit" for the type 4, i.e. no weldings in the camshaft boxes, as when you use the 911 parts:

And last, some old pictures from the Käfer cup days...... not cal look, but cool anyway
