The beam sits on its final place, just tackwelded for now.
Closed the bottom of the framehead and fliped the pan again.

I had to do some measuruing again, just to be sure Wink

Put on the new urethane bushes and placed the a-arm, the front mounts wil be in the spare wheel area.

After I dropped the Porsche beam in the frame head, I had some gabs tp fill.
Made 2 pieces out of 3mm sheetmetal and welded them around the beam.

I sure hope so Embarrassed . It only looks high in the picture, the original (Porsche 914) is verry low at the front.

Shubee2's post made me a little worry, so yesterday I started measuring again  Embarrassed.
All looks good the hight and even the width fits in/unther the innerwings.

Then I finished the right front suspension mounting points (and did the left side over again Embarrassed) then I cut the 914 innerwing piece to the wright width and welded it together.
Fixed the innerwing piece with some temp. steel and bolted the complete right suspension on.

I must say, I am pretty pleased with the result so far. Cool

After I finished welding the Porsche innerwings together and smooted the weld, it was time to take a piece of '66, bolt a fender to it, start cutting and see how it all fits.

It was time to start with the steering and ride hight, but first it seems like a good idea to see it on the ground with 4 wheels on it.

And indeed, this was a good plan Cry
The first problem i saw when it was on four wheels; this thing is pretty narrow for a circuit/drag/street car Shocked
Second problem; a bid of camber is nice, but this is cray Shocked, Back to the drawing board. Embarrassed

This is what I want;
   
Camber =>  Front -1 deg   - Rear -1.5 deg
Caster   =>  Front 6-7 deg - Rear  N/A
Toe      =>  Front 0 deg    - Rear -15' (toe-in)

Just a thought, is the distance between the strut tops & lower wishbones standard?
Also has the angle of the struts (forward & back) been retained?
If you can keep the distances and angles `factory` the camber etc should be ok, if the track width has been modified it should still work as long as the upper & lower mounting points have been moved an equal amount (within reason), although bump steer may become an issue if the steering rack pivot points no longer correspond with the wishbone pivots.
Thats when it becomes an engineering job way beyond me! Grin
A set of wheels with a different offset will cure the `narrow` look though.

Hi Kev,

The track width has been modified and the upper & lower mounting points have been moved an equal amount, at least thats what I thought I did Embarrassed
When all the wheel angles are like I whant them to be, I will start with the steering. This will be special made to avoid bumbsteer. The width can/will be adjusted with offset and spacers.

To fix the camber problem I was thinking of narowing the lower beam and fill it out with spacers, after measuring this meant that I needed 4cm spacers on each side Shocked. I DON'T WANT 4CM SPACERS Angry.

I started measuring the oval body again, and I seem to have 6cm width more than I thought Tongue.
I widened the upper strut with 6cm and after some fidling with the upper adjusting I have a -1deg. camber reading on my digital angle thing. Cool

They will be welded in the spare wheel area and bolted to the cage.
