I noticed the CLF has license plate frames. Never one to shy away from stealing a good idea, how about one for the Lounge. I am sure we can come up with a cooler one anyway.  Grin

Why not? We already have epic shirts. A chrome license plate frame would be COOL! A plastic one would be most likely cheaper and appreciated, as well. But chrome and possible classic VW dealer styling would be a nice fit on our beloved Cal Look cars, yes?

What would it say? Like the shirts, it should not be too obvious. And no location since the Lounge is world wide.

Do two sizes, same design. Course it would only be worth it if there was enough interest for both sizes.

You can do US size and Belgium size, there's a lot that will use it. European std rear plate on a beetle is too big, it's ugly with a frame on it. A lot of guys (and me) use US size for the rear.

Yes.

Go US Size, anyone overhere can order plates that size from various US plate-makers or local ones if they put some effort to it.

Good point. That could be a problem. Hopefully, it'll get worked out.

I guess the issue is the width, most Euro plates look pretty closely matched in height. So if we can find a compromise in the height, one option might be that the frames would have a notch in the upright bars to clear a wider plate? IMHO, that would make the plate look bit lighter too.. But the older Finnish black plates, 3 letter + 2 numbers, fit into US frames if the plate is narrowed around 1 cm at each end so I could live with US sized frames.

Does any of you US guys have leads about companies that would do the frames / have molds if they're casted?

I also remember DAS guys having their own set of wider Economotors frames to fit the Belgian plate, what material were those made of? Yves, Roland do you remember?

Belgian plates are quite small, most of the other european countries have quite big plates...

You can check the Platemeister at www.LICENSEPLATES.TV.com.(or google youre way in). Write them exactly what you need (US Size) and they make it. All colours are in stock. Just check my "Dutch" plates. The blue/white ones have a white line surroundingstripe and the yellow/black ones a black stripe.
I bet they can make that in white/red as well.
