Well, now it's my turn. Just a week ago i bought a 1955 oval that I will try to transform into a Cal-looker. It's my first time, so I'm prepared to recive some critisism both negative and hopefully positive.

Let's start with the beginning. My pal, Thomas Mårud aka Mangokid is my faithfull mentor, and he has tried, for some time now, to convince me that this is the right path to follow. And as he said, "I have now seen the light".
The car is pretty much solid, but requires some bodywork, but the floorpan is as good as new with 1300S gearbox, sway-a-way front axle, new brakepipes, mastercylinder etc.

My plans for this car is as follows. During this week I hope to complete the bodywoork. This includes welding the holdes for the exterior side and body trim. Before the weekend I hope to be ready to paint the bodyshell.
With the car I got cal-look window seals for all the windows and for the front doorwindow I'planning to use NOS windows from a split.

Me on the right in the last picture.  Dan in the middle and Ole on the left.

Last post today...
I'll mount a set of t-bars, Lucas indicators and remove the bonnet handle. I've not made up my mind about wheels yet. I have a wet dream about centerlines, but I've got a set of new BRM replicas in the workshop, so the might be the right wheels for this car.

When it comes to the interior I'll use a pair of bucket seats, the original steering wheel, Flat 4 eliminator shifter an maybe a Porsche rpm gauge.

The location of the rpm gauge is not final, but needs some adjustments....
The final picture is what i hope to end up with in time.

I hope that you can give me some response to this project as it evolves.

At least three layers of paint and a lot of filler due to dents. The new paint will be black!

Hope you can get the body straight enough for Black with all that filler and Paint it could look like a Sack of walnuts  it would have been wise to strip the paint and filler hammer and dolly the dents instead of filling the dents  in the end the car will be much nicer and straighter  plus it will hold up a lot longer it is all about the prep work on how nice the car come's out just my 2 cents  I am Doing a 58 Ragtop right now its my 49th VW I have redone

Well this is the part I'm really NOT looking forward to!! But now I think I've got a plan! A friend of my is willing to to do the worst part of the bodywork and he is a professional painter. Before he will make his hands dirty I will spray the car with a coat of filler, and then he will straighten the car up...haha...
I guess this will help me A LOT! And the car MIGHT be ready for SCC...hehe

Three days and nights in a row we have grinded, sanded, welded and so on! Last night we sprayed the first coats of filler, and it looks like a million dollars to me!!
With a serious amount of help from my good friend Anders, we have transformed this pile of junk into a car again!!
Anders welded the holes for the side trim on the left side yesterday, and today it was my turn to try on the right side. I'm not used to weld, but this was easier then I thougt!
Now, both sides are sprayed with filler, and tomorrow I will la my attension on the roof, bonnet, hood and wings. I really hope that I can do it half as good as Anders, but he is so freakin' skilled, so I have to be patient and spend my time right!

Anders the scary painter!;-)

I'm welding!!

Looking Good is that a Spray Filler you are using? It works really well you just spray the whole panel let it cure then block sand it
