Title: Anyone heard about Diamond-like Carbon coatings?

reading about abarth engines and tuners trying to squeeze every hp from those tiny engines this coatings came up, apparently they are the shizznits! anyone tried them in an aircooled VW?

Yes it's great. I have been using  dlc coating on my piston pin's for the past 3 yrs.When ever i tear the motor down for inspection the pin's looks great and slide right out of the piston.

Yes, same experience here: Piston pins, rocker shafts and lifters  ;)

So who is doing your coatings?
How do you treat the parts prior to sending for coating. If I am not wrong they are pretty strong on fully chamfered and fully polished.
I know they do take some second hand parts but oil is nothing they like.
What are the costs?

Anyone remember this one?

Surfaces are superfinished prior to.

There is a company here is germany, where I sent some parts.

It is really expensive but works. You could try to contact them.

I would recommend ceramic coating ...
