Title: Wiper Motor Help
Post by: Andrew on January 24, 2017, 22:26:54 pm
I have a two speed wiper switch that is labelled 30, 31, 31b, 53,, 53a and 53b. The switch checks out on all positions on my meter according to the rules.

  • Switch off: 31b connects to ground (via its mounting to the dashboard), 30(+) connects to 53a
  • Slow speed position: 31b is open, 30(+) connects to 53
  • High speed position: 31b is open, 30(+) connects to 53b

I have a four terminal motor, only 3 terminals are connected and 53 and 53b have been jumpered together.

The wiper motor works but only ever at a single speed, could this explain why?

Could I have a broken speed on the motor or was this a common thing to do? Anyone seen this before? Is slow speed so slow that its been omitted?

   many thanks,

Andrew

which wiper motor is it? you might have a later one that's not meant to work with the dash mounted switch

You may have a 67 single speed.
Are the contact spades all in a row?
Cheers, Nick

http://www.socalautoparts.com/product_info.php/aftermarket-windshield-wiper-motor-bug-volt-dual-speed-p-14315

They have contacts side by side rather than a straight line.

ps I've just put my spare N.O.S one in the for sale section.

Cheers, Nick
