I am thinking about to press some louvers in the decklit of my black `62. What do you think? Is that Cal Look?

I think they are more suited to a de-chromed car personally

Do you need to admit more fresh air into engine?
If so, maybe consider doing like the 1974- cars (maybe North America only?) had the air flap vent behind license plate?
The old VW number for it was 133-827-601. If you can find a good working one, maybe work that into your stock decklid....
I've thought about doing something similar to the vent behind license plate on my '67 and removing lower standoff.

I personally like louvres, but am with Lee, I don't think they'd suit that particular (very very nice btw) car.

No don't do louvres.
And if you do then you have to go all the way for that look.
And paint your car orange,yellow or pink... Grin
