nice work. i like that.

i see you kept the type3 front beam and that is very cool, but how did you narrow it? the torsion bars are narrowed as well?

and  i have the engine lid widened as well by some 3" to the each side and must say that has to be the best mod off my whole car. seems to be a piece off cake for you, but you didn't do that or am i mistaken?

nicolas,
Beam isn't narrowed, The arm's are narrowed.. 1" per side.. and the spindles are cut and drop 2".  I lengthened the lid, to show off the trans and make more room for the turbo setup...

Very cool project pip. Did you make the Aluminium bushings yourself? Would you be interested in making another set of ten? I could do with those!

Nice project with lots of good ideas, like the dual lid and the jacking points!
But what really got my brain into overdrive was the narrowing of the trailing arms?! Got any clear pics of that?

Well yes, I understand that, but why isn't the toe in correct in the first place? What change resulted in needing to extend them Huh

On a car that has been extremely lowered with a lot of camber you run out of toe adjustablility on the spring plates It's the natural arc of a swing axle. The greater the spring plate angle, the more toe in you have. I'm not sure if it necessary on this car beings he raised the transmission.

I could only raise the tran's 1 3/4 do to the fact, that I'm keeping the lid on it.. With the car on the ground it had over 1/4" toe in..
(The mock trans is a mid engine tranny)  Tongue The axles are flipped.. maybe its causing me some toe in..  I'll Double check it, With another trans...

Very cool, Pip! Ron was showin' me some pics, yesterday. I dig the engine bay access door that you made. GOOD STUFF! Silly question, but why are you opting for a Type 1 steering column... to get the steering wheel that you want? Or is there something else?

Can't wait to see it finished so I can photograph it. Really diggin' the 7R Fuchs on the back.

Thanks for the info. About the toe in, when you move the gearbox up the distance from the torsion housing center to the center of the diff increases, that's why you need longer spring plates.
