Fred,
I love the ICTs with single ports.  The run so much better than on a dual port motor.
The ICTs and the Kadrons have a similar problem as the mixture screw is located on one side of the carb thus favoring one cylinder per head on a dual port motor during idle and the transiitiion out of idle.

Bad design...

Another sub-2 liter:

1914cc

Crank: 69mm German 8 dowelled
P/B: Mahle 94mm A + truarc clips
Rods: Scat I-beam
Heads: VW040 mod. 40x37
Cam: Scat C35 + VW 1.1:1 rockers on solid shafts
Carbs: dual DRLA40s venturi 36(custom)
Sump: CB wide sump 1.7 Qt + full flow thru Fram HP-1 + bugpack breather(modified)
Ignition: Mallory with points + blue coil + taylor leads
Exhaust: 1 5/8 merged + Mondo
Clutch: Kennedy stage 1 + stock plate

Gearbox: AM (Still stock)

I wonder how it's gonna go now with theese 36 vents. I had 28s before and it was very, very flexible - pulled well from the bottom to 6000RPM quite well.
Things will be more specific after our club(SSVWF) Dyno Day in September.

Sorry, Steve... just now saw your reply. The ICT makes perfect sense for a single port engine, in my opinion. They're a great way for me to deal with a temporary engine while I wait to build the 1.9 liter. So far, so good. I couldn't imagine having those carbs on a dual port setup... but maybe they work.

you're joking, how you never built a fast non-turbo type 1 engine?   Shocked Wink

how come there's only a few sub-2 litre engine posted in this thread?
are the owners a bit shy about their HP numbers? i liked to see a few more just for the sake of comparison...

Why would you build anything else than a turbo engine LOL

Thanks... it's real nice around town and will press you in the seat when you put your foot into it.

And with the Berg 5 it cruises all day at 80mph.

Mate, each to their own I personally like both NA + forced T1 but I love a turbo T4, look, in the end as long as its Aircooled VW I dont care.

You would love what a mate of mine has done with his little Fiat, Abarth heads, To#¤ta S/Charger, Twin Mikuni TBs, EFI, etc etc. crazy.

Neil - Did you have additional port work done to your MS 230 Heads? Big intake valves too 48mm?  I know you've been having great results with your combination so I was curious.
Thanks!

No port work done.  Flycut for compression and exhaust guides trimmed, as they were chipping a bit...probably due to the previous Web 226 cam, which I've since learned is not a good cam.

We tested out a larger diameter crossover tube and it cured that problem with the Kads! Steve said it was the only engine with Kads that idled on all cylinders  Shocked
The crossover pipe he used was off a 72 bus which is the correct size for the job. Wink

Rancho Pro Comp with close 3rd/4th gears.  I don't do a burnout, and I also keep the tire pressure up around 22 lb...this probably preserves the gearbox!
