Tom, does your heater work well? I had a 1 1/2" set of the old Dansk ones on a modified merge. They moved a lot of air, all of it lukewarm. Seriously, my breath was warmer. I thought they weren't up to the task and I lived in Orange County at the time.

Honestly, the fact that ANY air warmer than ambient flows out of those vents is all that really matters to me.
And, although they aren't nearly as efficient as original equipment (due mainly to the fact that they clearly don't utilize the aluminum heat sinks that wrapped the original J-pipes inside the assembly), the HARDER you drive it, the WARMER the air gets!
So, I suppose the moral here, rather than 'Be happy with what you can get', would be 'Drive HARD and SMILE, it'll make you all WARM inside!'.

Also a good reason to run 10.5:1 or Better!

Both good points! Glad it wasn't just me who had that problem.

I took that car with me when I moved to Berkeley. It got what I considered freezing-ass cold there--maybe 50 degrees F.  Cheesy

Fast forward almost 20 years. My wife's Baja has German heater boxes but the door seals were bad. It got to 22F one night (-6 six for the rest of the world that was smart enough to adopt metric). We simply froze our asses off. We had to scrape the INSIDE of the windshield.

Now everything gets a gas heater.  Wink

I have a Berg 1 3/4" heater box system modified for an A1 Renn Kafer muffler.

Or a BLOWTORCH! ... although, I guess that's what those actually are ...

Stelth67vw ... nice.
How was the header modified to accept the A1, flange? Or was the muffler modified to accept the header? LOL
Thanks,

I made my own out of a Berg 1 5/8 merged header and it will cook me out of my car.  My wife has been known to complain that it is too hot while I am trying to defrost the windshield.  They work!

The Berg's said they may never have the muffler made for their system since their header guy was flakey so I hacked off the flange, shortened up the collector about 1/2" and made a matching flange for the A1 muffler.
