Title: wiring - earthing the engine/gearbox help! Post by: SteveW on April 11, 2009, 08:35:58 am fairly stupid question I suspect! From what I remember the engine is not directly earthed but the gearbox should have an earth strap ? Is this right? I'm trying to think from when I last took the motor out of the bug and my ghia!

You should always sand the contact areas to bright metal to ensure good conductivity. Especially if they are painted. Don't forget the alternator stand too.
