He either had a CV/U-joint lock up or he locked up the rear brakes through the lights and backed it in to the wall, then on to the roof.

According to Ron Fleming, John was trying to make the first turnout on the right and lost it.  That lane has a bump in it after the finish line........that could have played a role in it.  Sounds like the damage isn't too bad, thank goodness.  Nice guy.

Ron Fleming told me the same thing  -  that John was trying to take the first turn out, but as you read below = that is not what happened.

Post per John, on the Cal-Look Forum

Thanks everyone for the support. I am ok, a bit sore but i'm not hurt. If you have pictures or especially video feel free to post them. I would like to see video but everyone i have talked to hasent got it on video.

I heard a tire chirp and the rear of the car started to come around, i steered into it but obviously not enough because it kept coming around. Then everything went into slow motion as i saw the guardrail coming at me and i thought F%&K it gonna hit the wall. It hit rear end first, spun around the front end hit and then eventually went over.

The front beam of the car did not come out until after the crash. it is actually hanging by the bugpack steering coupler. In the impact it did rip all 4 bolts out of the frame head with the welded in nuts all still attached, exploded the steering box, bet the frame hear and the foot well of the car way back. The passenger axle is partially ripped out of the sway a way spring plate and rotated enough to hit the shock.

I did not hit the brakes, and i always take the long return road even in Sloooow cars, i just always do.

i believe that one of the U-joints in the bus/folts axle conversion bound up for a split second and caused the rear wheel to lock and throw the car into a spin. I have been warned about those u joints since the day i bought the car. Mark and Mike H, Jeff Denham and a few other all told me to check those things constantly, they loosen up, bind up, flop around, etc.

I think the car will be torn apart and sawed up saving what i can for the next one.

i would also like to say that i am glad the red convertible i was racing was far back enough that they were out of the way. If we were even they probably would have been involved in the crash.
