Title: short finnish axles new set-up...
Post by: oldbeetle on June 05, 2017, 10:10:22 am
I'm trying to get mey new set-up gearbox ready but have some problems with distances.
It's an old typ GBox with short finnish axles.
The bearing is coming out 9 mm from the axletube so I need an old type bearingcover? They didn't come with the box...
I only get about 42 mm of axle end after the bearingcover with the big ring at the end.
Not enough to use my younger model discbrakes again...
Is this distance normal (42 mm ) with/for old type drums?
If I want to keep my discbrakes, do I have to make the disc holder thinner on a lathe?
Anyone done this before?

Looks like short axle tube so needs matching bearing cover, to get those disc brake hubs to work you will need to have snout machined shorter

cheers Richie
