I'm getting ready to send my split window to paint and I realize the license plate light I have iis a pre '49  with the lens fitted with rivets.

I need the later one ,1950-1952.
Anyone know of one for sale?

thanks,

Marc Buehler

That is for a late 58s car.  He needs a split one.

Marc, there are several on the Samba.  They start at about $150 and go up from there.

Marc, do you have any pics of yours? My '51 (Jan build, most parts made in December '50) has a number plate light with rivets, so it might be easy enough to modify yours to the later style?

Thanks for the lead but that's the later "pope's beak" found on small windows

I suppose I could hack up the earlier light to make it fit (the base has a different profile to fit the early hoods that have a flat area for the license plate) but I'd rather get the correct one and sell mine to someone who needs the earlier (and more rare) light.

I don't have a picture of mine handy but here are some pictures taken from the internet. I don't recall the exact years but you'll get the idea.

Thanks for the help,

Marc

This is the 1948 light with rivets holding the lens and the part that fits the hood is a different shape

This is the 1951 pope's nose that I need. No rivets around lens and the bottom has the proper shape to fit the "w" hood.

This is the light found on a small window.  Some people are calling this a pope's nose but it is entirely different.  It's a beak.

Thanks for looking, Paul, but the one you have is the smaller "beak" found on the small windows. I need the one that looks like a big nose found on the splits.
I appreciate your efforts though.

Russell, If you can't find a "nose" for me, there is a guy in Belgium that will sell me one.
Let me know.....and thanks for the help.
I'll be packing the Underdog wheels in my suitcases for the Classic.
