1322 E. Borchard now is a welding supply shop. I'd be willing to be it's in the orignal building.

I wanted to but it's been very overcast today... almost rainy. I didn't have my Camera with me but my phone will take 640x400.

When the weather clears up, I'll try again.

Ciao ragazzi Wink

I need a help. These months I have purchased some DDS parts, especially the carb linkage and the oil sump in purple color both. The color is certainly resprayed because them are too purple. So I'd like to know the right DDS color to restore them correctly. Some scan of DDS parts catalog or some pics are really appreciated.

Many thanks

Guys, the original DDS building was not on Borchard, but on 605 E. Alton Street, just behind Rimco. Both locations were in Santa Ana, only a few blocks away from each other. And yes, the Borchard building was painted bright purple! From there, they went to Orange, and eventually changed the name to APRM.

And I know what DDS item(s) that are about to come on e-Bay..... Get your check book out for these two!

That's the way I recall it. If you look at the side (door) of Dean's first DDS race car, the orange one that eventually crashed, you will see the Alton address along the bottom of the doors. The second car, the purple one, did not have an address on the doors. This car, eventually became Billy Mitchell's.

Pink and Purple..Now what color on what product!! I don't know, now you're right the best way is to see on an original DDS catalog.

Cheers

Hey Richard that breather box is beautiful and VIOLET. This is my oil sump, it's PINK or PURPLE I don't know. The carb linkage is the same color.

If is true that there was two colors for DDS, like Rey said, the best way is to see this oil sump on an original DDS catalog.

Russell

That is correct, later on. There was a time when both brothers were together using the ARPM name, to avoid a pending law suit with NPR. But later on, when they split up, it was pretty much Ken's deal, as Dean went off to Tucson.... But, it's ARPM (Aluminum Racing Product Machine), I know you just hit the keys wrong....

Mauro,
First of all, the pictures in the DDS catalogs were black & white.
I have a lot of Deano parts and they all are pretty close to the same shade of purple as the pictures of my breather box above, never pink.
Secondly, I hope you didn't pay a lot for the sump.
It is one of a batch of fakes made by Guillaume Bendler.
He took vintage sumps that had the "blank circle" and machined away some metal on the top and bottom of the circle and "hand engraved" the Deano logo.
There was a big discussion about them on the Samba awhile ago.
The first clue is that the sumps would have been cast in a mold, so all the logos would be indentical.
Here are some pics of two other fake sumps.
Notice how the logo is different in each.
Sorry to ruin your day.

Hi guys, I have a pic of my old deano carb linkage, which has some of the original paint on it. I went to a paint shop and got some custom mixed which is identical. I sold it to Someone in Milan, Italy in the end, has one of you guys got it?

I have a good pic of it, but the file is too large for me to download. Can anyone download this if I email it you?

Si.
