Title: How to: removeable rear valance?
Post by: runningmonkey on October 30, 2011, 12:00:43 pm
Hey guys

Am just in the process replacing my rear valance on my oval, and I want to replace it with a removeable one, as at the moment I Seem to be taking my engine out every other week :o
Question is am not really sure how to go about it, Iv removed the rear wings and the engine out of the car am just not sure what my next step is?

Is there a kit you can buy with the fast release clips and strengthening bars etc? and how does the removable rear valance compare in strength to a welded fitted one?

Sorry for all the question but I want to make sure I get it right before I start

Thanks in advance John

To see all progress go to ww.rodents.pl than chose "GALERIA" and finally "cal-look"

cheers

When I did mine I didn't want to hack the back end off my car, it was a street car not a race car.

What i did was where the valance was previously spot welded at the sides, I fitted two m6 nuts and bolts per side, through the valance into the quarter panel
I had to clearance the wing where it sits over the m6 bolts, to remove it was a case of loosening the lower wing bolts so you could undo the nuts and bolts. I didn't run bumpers on this car.

It was good enough for me, I am sure it could be refined a little but with a quick glance, when it was all bolted up, you would not know it was removable.

Most people in the US refer to them as Dzus fasteners.  Many speed shops sell them. Google Dzus fasteners on the web and you will easily find them.
