question?Huh... if you want to build a perfect 70's cal look , what's the correct engine size Huh
for me at that time( 72 ->79) the size didn't overtake the 1900cc for a street/strip cal looker and also they didn't run all with 48IDA , i see in my old magazine many cal look roll with 40 dcnf on race trim/dds manifold or on 42 dcnf berg kit  . at that time the car was built  at first to be streetable and in the second to make runs. that's why if i build an 70's cal look may be my choice goes to that kind of displacement with may be that kind of carbs kit ,I find that he gives certain charm to the engine  Grin, not as I don't like 48ida, because I own an Italian set (Bolognia) and even if I built an engine with my 48 , I believe that I shall limit myself to a power of 1900cc no more .
and you 70's cal looker guys , who lived this period, can inquire me on this type of assembly (40 and 42) was he successful for the street( caravan rally) and for the strip  Huh
thanks for your help
regards

I think the classic '70s street motor would be a 1679 (88x69). I believe there wasnt many options as far as bore and stroke go, so any combintation of either a 88 or 92mm bore, and 69, 74, 78, and 82mm stroke crankshaft. Look at Dave Rhodes '64- 88x82 (1994cc), and it runs 12s. And it was built "back in the day"
I personally will be building a 2276 for my "cal look" engine, because I want it to make big power and last. All the pieces on the exterior of the engine will be vintage performance pieces, but all the internal pieces will be modern components. I like the rod ratio I can get with an 82 crank with 5.325" rods, and I like the fact that the engine will be narrower then a stock one.
