About as racy as a Fiat Jolly  :D    Just kidding!    Well accepted as long as it's fast and reliable  ;)

nostalgia styling would be in order, non of that tuning stuff they do in poland.
It gives you the weight of a buggy and the safety of being in a car.
Design of the car is the same style as the fiat x1/9 and that has been used to.
cars can be found very very cheap to, certainly without an engine and gearbox.

Hi,

There are some V8 versions around, could look good with some late 70s early 80s gasser decoration.

Doe's anyone remember bug jam 89 or 90 with the little ratty fiat 500 with a basic 1600 racing the audi quattro ? got some pics of it some place .
It seamed to get drawn against the quattro time after time , flew off the line & left the audi standing , but always just beaten at the top end .

yes,and it had a huge 1641cc engine, quality to see it beat the Audi over and over :D  every time it came round the crowd would get quite exited :D  Not sure about a 126 though, sometimes being different for the sake of it isnt good

It was built by Bob Wick, who then built a rail which I think Became Paul Venners Air Express. It was before my time - I only got into VWs in '95, but KS might know a bit more. :)

I do remember the Airexpress rail from the early shows I went to my first VW drag meeting was the GCC sumer nationals in 88 and that rail ran there I wonder what happened to the fiat?

I used to have one of these

I'm very tempted to put my current 1914 engine in one when I retire it and build the stroker

Lil Bug was Bob Wicke's car - his VWDRC dragster (built by Bernie Smith pre-VWDRC) was given the same name.

We built and race a vw powered fiat 126 here in Poland. If you type " maluch 2332 " into youtube, you'll find it. We run it in the N/A RWD class where my pro stock bug is in no1 position followed by a 911 gt3rs and then a tenth behind is our fiat on street tyres. The engine install is easier and looks better than the standard 2 cylinder and it's easier to work on than the same engine in a bug. Only problem is that the car cost us about $80 and the project cost me about  $15,000 even though we did almost all the work ourselves.
