Hi All

What about a really nice X-mas present this year  Shocked

Do you want the holy grail?

Then look at this:2 pcs Porsche Early Fuchs from the 911R Race car:
7.0" 49mm positive offset

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=543138

"The 7R's look like the early 6" Deep dish wheel, they just have this extra 1" on the inside of the wheels"

Search the web and you will see that this is like money in the bank  Wink okay maybe some would rather have the money in the bank  Wink would you???
Do you dare to buy this set, and almost be sure the the car you park next to at all the meeting would not have a wheel like this on  Grin

Quote from the samba:
"7.0's had a rubber stamp part number - the metal stamp was almost always (basically read "always") ground off. Also, the metal stamp would not be .05, it would be whatever number was being used to make the 6's at the time, since they used the same forging piece for the petals or spokes. However, the sides and backs are unique and very recognizeable to the R wheels. Thus, custom-made R wheels are easily identifiable. Some 6.0's even end with .00 (very early). {I have (4) of these wheels.} It's possible to have R's with .00 forging numbers too. 6.0 Fuchs made for the 911R race cars had a .03 ending part number. Now, those are some extremely rare wheels: {24 cars (4 prototypes and 20 production cars) x 2 wheels(fronts) = 46 + 23 spares = 59 total !!! Ever!!!"

Best Regards
Anders

They fit an IRS car perfectly.
For a swing axle car, you would need a very thick spacer if you had short axle.  Best is to use 68 and later long axle.  Type 3 drums help.

Nice wheels.  Please note that the quote from the Samba is incorrect.  These wheels were available from the Porsche parts dept for many years.  Nobody knows how many were produced.  rare, yes - but not that rare.  Smiley

Were they date stamped Kobus?  I thought the only markings were the ink stamp?

As low production as these were, I would suspect that they were all made at the same time and then sold until gone.

Dave, according to Alan.UK over on the early S board, he's seen date codes on 7R wheels from 67 to 70.  He said the wheel was also used on the ST.
IMO, the current market does not care about date codes.  There is not enough of them coming up for sale for anyone to discriminate when they need a pair.

.... mine are stamped 10/67 and 10/68 ,....
12/67 and 2/68 for mine.  What I find odd is that most pairs don't seem to have the same dates.
Anders, what are the dates on yours?
