Title: Deano Dyno-Soar Merged Collector Post by: deano on October 18, 2010, 02:39:26 am Thanks to Paul Schley for IDing this one. We were at Fontana today, and he pointed out a very rare exhaust system. This particular system was only made between 1968-1969 by S&S Headers FOR Deano Dyno-Soars. This was the first "production" merged system made for the VW, prior to 4-Tuned. What is unique about this system is the collector. Notice how the individual tubes run right into the collector. In other words, the collector is not a separate piece that was bench welded, and then installed to a fixture. And because this, the labor was way high, which finally was doomed due to S&S not being able to make it for DDS any longer. After this system was dropped, S&S made a stamped (short) collector for DDS, which is far more common today. If Paul didn't point out the finer points of this system, I would have never noticed its construction method. A piece of Deano history (and the VW aftermarket for that matter).

Title: Re: Deano Dyno-Soar Merged Collector Post by: deano on October 18, 2010, 15:45:45 pm Yes, similiar in many ways, but S&S was first with a production merged collector. But 4-tuned's Bob Sanchez soon became the king of that style of header (they made them for Berg for years).

Apart from 4T then did anyone else make one with this type of collector? Title: Re: Deano Dyno-Soar Merged Collector Post by: deano on October 19, 2010, 16:55:53 pm Chase Morse. But only by custom order.
