Title: detonation detection
Post by: Peter on January 02, 2007, 22:21:50 pm
hi guys,
a quick question...
i dont have a detonation detection device,
so how can i set the advance curve in a safe way?
can you really clearly hear it  when it starts pinging( also with engine under load) , or would this be too crude?
thanks, Peter

Hi Peter, i have the same problem because my 4th gear is to tall. YES, you can really hear it as off 2300 rpm (more or less) It's a very hard noise, like you hear every cylinder working. Try to advance youre ignition as much as possible. (towards Top Dead Centre) Hope it helps.

Detonation have been going on before you hear it.
