Title: ****Best Stacks For IDA 48***
Post by: beetlemic on March 02, 2009, 17:08:57 pm

We got a thread about IDA stacks but nothing for the Weber 48 IDA.

First to find the right stack wich one to choose?

I now Jaycee makes nice looking ones but how good are they?

Also find it difficult to find  aircleaners.

What do you guys  recomend?

Here's a pic of my old stacks:

This scan is coming from STF right? I posted it. ;) It's from the book Tuning the A-series engine by David Vizard ( minis and such). It has extensive chapters about carbs also. Even little about IDAs. Vizard also tested flow trough various carbs:

.
.
WEBER 40DCOE (36mm venturi) = 175cfm
DELLORTO 40DRLA (36mm venturi) = 182 cfm
WEBER 45DCOE (38mm venturi) = 242
DELLORTO 45 DRLA (38mm) =254
DELLORTO 48DRLA (38mm)=283
WEBER 48IDA (38mmventuri) = 296

flow is per one barrel @21.3 inch of water depp.

Really great book. Very detailed information about carbs, manifold, head porting( with drawings and measurements!) bottom ends, oiling , ignition,...500 pages. Is not for mini enthusiast only.  I don't have one and have found lot of useful info in it.

I s there a reason why 48DRLA flow less then 45DRLA with the same venturi?

This doesn't look to promising for the stock stack of the IDA :(

Could be.  I don't remember where I found it.
I wonder what #10 would flow like if it had a good 1/4" radius around the top of the stack?
