If we are going to be this "strict" they are more cal-look than repro wheels can ever be... after all, they are real! But to answer your question... no, they dont do anything for me in their stock form... but stick the right rubber on them and they might "pop"!

Arent they only 14"? If so, then no. IMO you gotta have 15" to be cal look!

I would not mind having a set of 13" DDS for the front of my looker when I go racing...  but anything OVER 15" seem strange to me.

The most common SA Sprints are 15", but they come in 14" too (I need a set...).
Wouldn't call them cal-look wheels, but they can be cool on certain cars.

Zach, 14" wheels are definitely Cal Look too. Think about 14" Spider mags (Empi 8-Spokes) and 14" Fuchs (as seen on Frenchys yellow Ghia).

Back to topic: I am not a big fan of Rostyle wheels aka SA Sprintstars, but they are period wheels and they are real. I like it if people put some uncommon stuff to their cars, otherwise it would be a bit boring. And think about Gasburners: I can't remember seeing a 70s car on Gasburners, but today they are with out a doubt accepted as Cal Look wheels.

I still think they look to small Smiley A 15" wheel fills the fender better, with the correct profile tire. Id like to see a set of 15" SA sprints on a cal looker- I think it could look great.
There are alot of wheels that are considered cal look today that werent back in the '70's... Cosmics (at least I think so!), Gasburners like you mentioned, 4.5" Fuchs (Ive talked to a Porsche guy who used to throw them away! He said nobody wanted those wheels!), Ronals, I could go on- but you get the point! As long as the wheel is VW or Porsche pattern (no adapters!) it can all be cal look today.

...because not the SA sprintstar!?!
Most people use the gasburner, the brm and the sprintstar reproduction, but no the ORIGINAL SA sprintstar?
For me is possible to use the "rostyle" on the cal look!
They are the wheels original 70's... Grin

i hate rostyle wheels, leave them to the escort and cortina brigade.  People only call them SA sprints to make them sound glamourous and desirable..

They're nice on an "oldspeed" vw with vintage speed equipment, but I don't consider them as cal look rims, imho. But they're still better than 14" wheels or 4-lug brms.  Grin

Carlo, what procedure did you go through restoring the wheels? I am doing the same thing now (not with sprints) and i'd like to know how you did it...

Before the wheels are been sand-blast. So I painted the base with special varnish and then I sandpapered. To paint in two colors I covered the part in grey and painted with black the remaider and then on the contrary I covered the part in black and painted the rest in grey!
