That ex-Bernard Newbury is one of my favorite cars of all time !
I still remeber front cover of '97 september issue Volksworld like it was yesterday.
Other great car from same issue was Greg Brinton's '67 that influenced me to paint my car black !

HAHAHAHA!!! Worm & Fabian... you guys are killin' me.

Jim, that's cool... another one of your Cal Looker road trips. Good to see people taking 'em out on the road so they can stretch their legs and breathe.

thanx Mark, Highway 33 isn't to be missed by anybody that enjoys a good long run. The drive to get there from my place alone is worth it. next time you're up near Ventura ring me and we can take the '67's up there. You fish don't you?

Yes! But since I took this job, last year, my fishing and surfing time has dwindled down quite a bit. 99.9% of the time, I favor ocean/salt water fishing. But I'm always up for a fresh water go.

Not an especially good photo but taken at speed and it was a good evening out with the Uber Alles folk, I got my first ride in my '53 ( Tongue) and this was the view out of the window.

well, I've pretty much forgotten all Sheep has taught me about leaders, nail knots, roll casts, etc. We can always just run the cars around instead. Sarge and I have been threatening to put together a weekend back-road cruise up through Ojai, over the 33 and down into Santa Ynez valley for some blur-time.
There's an abundance of awesome driving roads up in there. I'm ready when you guys are.

I love a road trip  Grin

The first is Gary R's new ride, which Alex Taylor has just gone through. 68000 km 67, it should be out on the streets by the end of the summer. Here it is stock as a rock in a little German town on the way back from Vienna to England

Next up we have Lofty's standard when it was, er standard  Grin Parked up next to Walter's Rat the day we met Ernst (Dekate) at the Bug Box to collect it

And on every trip we always have to see what the old girl can do. 30 bhp 1200? Check. Crash box? Check. Cable brakes? Check. 2 idiots on board? Check  Grin

And to quote Alex when I was taking the photo....

Hurry up, it's shaking like a shitting dog  Shocked

Great picture of the Standard dash, Alfie. I've always dug on Standard Beetles. We rarely ever saw those in the States.
