So this is where you guys will be meeting every Saturday? You're not going to change up the venues? Doesn't matter to me either way... just curious, Ron. Can't make this one... this weekend's too busy, but will make 'em in the future.

We will be meeting Saturday September 4, 8:30AM at Norm's Famous Charbroiled Burgers 14244 Whittier Blvd Whittier 90605.
We invite and welcome any locals or people in the area to drop by to dine with us, chat and talk about VW's, cars or whatever.

Okay it's rolled around to the first Saturday of the month again and we're going to meet with our Bugs for Breakfast November 6th at Norm's Famous Charbroiled Burgers 14244 E Whittier Blvd 8:30 AM, cross street is Ocean View. This location was previously Scotty's , once the home of the famous Whittier Blvd cruises.
I will be there and have a few guys including Mark R. confirmed as going. All are welcome to come eat, chat and BS about VW's etc. The weather should be great so look forward to seeing all.

Very cool... used to love Scotty's, if it's the same place that I remember from cruising Whittier Blvd. I hope to make this, but my schedule will dictate that.

Sorry I won't make this one, I have to go to Puerto Rico, & then go on a 7 day
cruise. I'll be thinking of you guys while I dodge the thunder & tropical storms.
They are threatening a hurricane warning, oh well the worst day on a cruise is
pretty much better than the best of anything else. Mark/Fred you need to be there!!
Your homeboy is driving a long way to get there.  ;D

Bon Voyage Hecker, have a good time rain or shine.
Seems if a breakfast meeting was something of a good idea. There is a new conflicting event shown on TheSamba called The VW Autofahrer, planned to be held every first Saturday of the month year round. For you guys closer to Irvine or Tom's Farm it would be a good gig, but it's a little too far for me. Hope that works out on that end.
I would still like to see Bugs for Breakfast come off on a regular basis too, but my schedule has me working every other Saturday so we'll see. I had to work last month and nothing got organized. I know Whittier area is old stomping ground for few of use here and is centrally located. I hope the venue suits and draws a crowd, whether I can make it or not.
This week I'm having Pancakes, hope to see ya there 8)

Today was by far the biggest and best turn-out we've had thus far at a Bugs for Breakfast gathering. If i counted right there were 11 AC vehicles including one KG and one Type II, 12 if you count the Harley. Can't thank or say enough about the great group of people who brought along their cars to come out for breakfast and a little show and tell. So many new names I'm still trying to remember! I sure hope all had as great a time as I did. Thanks for recording it in pictures too Mark, your photos are far better than mine and give a good overview of the event.
Much thanks for the success go to Mark Ramirez for putting out the e-mails and PMs to a "few" friends and Deeks :D. He get's the long haul award too for making the morning drive from Temecula to attend.
And wow Kaferdog, what did you have to eat, one of those awesome Chorizo Burritos?! Talk about energy!
Hope to see you all and more next month. Check your calenders for the first Saturday AM in December now!

With these few days off I just wanted to remind everyone that the next time we'll be getting together for a B4B event is coming up Saturday, December the 4th.
For the sake of breathing room and parking, I'm going to suggest we move it just four blocks east down Whittier Blvd to Ruby's Diner. Their Whittier location is at 10109 Whitwood Dr, Whittier 90603. It's located within a mall parking lot, but it is offset and there is still a wide expanse of parking. The restaurant features lots good food, service, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Lets wish for good weather!
Hope to see a few of you there.
Cheers for now, Bruce

Bruce, can we see our cars while we're in the diner?

Yes. There is indoor seating with a row of picture windows overlooking the parking. If the weather is good there are also about four or five tables outside on the patio adjacent to the parking.
No fears! We'll post a sentry if we have to :D

Of course I'll be there, unless there is water falling from the sky (don't want to say the "R" word).
Mark, you can see the street view of the facility and parking in Google maps. I tried to link it but it won't work, defaults back to Maps page.

If ya know Whittier Blvd, It's between Santa Gertruduse and Scott, in Whittier. The left hand turn lane going west where Carls Jr. is, is what you take or turn in, go straight and you'll see Ruby's on right. Hope this kinda helps.

Thanks, Bruce... I'll check it out. Long as I have a visual on my car, I'll take it. Otherwise, I'll bring one of my daily drivers.

(edit) Just went on Google Maps and was able to get great street views of Ruby's... looks like plenty of great parking spots where we can watch the cars. Long as the weather holds up, I'll bring the '67.

Thanks to Ernie, Alex, Randy and first timer Jim for bringing out their Ghia's, which  outnumbered Bugs by 4 to 3. Good to see Mark and his girl (sorry I don't remember her name :-[), Ted, Ron and Kaferdog/Randy there too.
The event went off pretty well at Ruby's, and it should be considered for the next event. The cars were a dispersed a little in the parking lot, but we have ideas to work that out next time. Sorry no one took pictures, but with a cloudy sky it's probably just as well.
I have to say, once we got talking, it was hard to stop. It could have easily rolled right into Luftkafers for Lunch and Dubs for Dinner too if we had the time! It was 11:00 before I finally broke off and headed home.
Wish everyone well and look forward to getting together for breakfast again, whenever that may be.
I'll stay tuned!

Hey Jim was great meeting you, seen you around, Nicks, the shows, but never met you, turned out to be a small world that we both were at Auto-Craft and knew pretty much the same people. We must talk again. Hey don't worry about the DKK thing, under my cap. ::)  8) Bruce, WAS a good turn out, even being the weather. Ruby's got my vote hands down. Or maybe we can alternate with Norms sometimes. The parking, we can park where the other two Ghia's were, we sure can see our cars from Ruby's, no problem. This way we are all together, my 2cents. Mark, I totally agree in our conversation that the VW world IS a very close net people, I'm learning that even more since we been haveing these breakfast meets, thanks to Bruce. looking forward to the next one. Get more people to show, hey, and take over Ruby's, hahaha. Show those HOT RODDERS, that we are Hot Rods too!! See ya all tonight for DKP's Santa's Little Helper Cruz.  ;D

Yeah I also enjoyed it ..!...It's great to finally put a face to the names on the Cal-look lounge and see the usual suspects ...! ....I think Ruby's was a great location plenty of parking and good menu ..! I also liked "Norm's Burgers" Too...I was disappointed I didn't get to take my car as I had thrashed on it the day before to get it ready for B&B and the Cruise, only to get shot down by a little "clip"....!!!.....anyway I look forward to the next one .....Soooo See ya next year !..... ;)

Time for a bump again, first Saturday of the month is coming up this weekend.
Not sure what the feelings are about doing it this Saturday on New Years Day. It's also a busy weekend with the DKK cruise/DKP meeting on Sunday. I have no problem with it, but thought it would be better to take a poll.
If there is any doubt or hesitation, we could simply defer it to next week, Saturday Jan. 8th
Post your ideas and we'll go from there.

Great to hear you DKK guys will be coming, should be a good turn-out. I will try to get there at 8am to help arrange the parking. There should be enough room to get all the Bugs together in one area. I'm trying to roundup some red cones or caution tape to rope off an area for us.
vdubdweeb, try to come if you can, otherwise there's always next month. Good luck car hunting.
low oval, I know you're craving Norm's, so we can plan on that venue in February for a change. We will discuss it and let you and everyone know in advance.

That's Joe "Skeeter" Larson's.

It was his original DKK car and was painted green with Centerlines. He sold it but kept tabs on it and the opportunity to buy it back came up.

Here's some pics from when he got it back.

DKK Fred/Mark, you in?

Nope. Sadly, I missed the event 'cause I over slept. A long work week with a 13 hour work shift the night before, working at an emergency situation with a local power company. Hopefully, I'll make the next one.

Ted, thanks for the pics.

I've invited another local Whittier VW legend Ralph Chase of VW Goldmine. He said he may bring out his oval window.  Hope he can make it.
Also confirmed some of the regulars and a few of the Deeks will attend as well.
In store is some awesome spring weather, so get those car covers off and blow the cobwebs out of your mufflers 'cause this is proving to be a fun event you won't want to miss!

Right on! I still have one of his license plate frames from the early eighties. Larry Perez (fellow DEEK) gave me one back when he worked for VW Gold Mine.

Bummed that I have to miss this event... but helping my girlfriend move has been planned for a couple of months. Have fun and Ted... YOU'RE the photog since I can't make it. HAHA!! Oh, and that short cat... Serge, I think they call him. Yeah.

Well had a great time, a small turn out but still glad to see Damon there Jr.(DKK), Ed with his Ghia, Randy without his Ghia, but hopefully will be fixed back to it's glory, Mark Ramirez, Mark(DKK), Ralph from Gold Mine and Crazy Joe showed up, a few other people, but was all good, my buddy Randy with his 67' with his new role cage in the car, at least for now, kind of a try out. And of course Bruce and Ron. Good conversations and good food, what can I say. Again like to thank Bruce and Ron for keeping BFB going. See ya all on the next one!

Ted
