I have a problem with the ignition curve, as I get pinging around 2000-2500 rpm. This is in loaded condition.
I dont have a MSD, as I dont like the look of them, i have to tamper with some Bosch dissy.
Idealy I would like a curve that only rises after 2500 is passed, Any good tips out there?
I have a 009 a 010 a Mallory a 205  to play with, any others need to be found.
Aircooled.net advices 050 for my rod ratio...  1,71 why?

About the 050: I have read the same and asked a few people, but no one could tell me why.
BUT - I´m sure you could borrow my 050 to see if anything happens. Give me a call..

The 050 has much more advance in it than the 009.  If you like 30º total advance for your engine, you would set the 050 to about 2º BTDC.  This will probably translate to less advance at rpms below where it is all in.

Thanks Bruce, Its worth a shot, JS I'll call you later!

BTW I see a 010 with just one spring is pretty steep to, but it comes in to early. Is there a way around this? a stiffer spring maybe?

which is the distributor that is giving you the pinging @ 2000rpm? if it's the 009, the 010 will be worse, the stock 1600 dual-port centrifugal-vacuum distributor does have a very lazy curve which may be useful for you, and you can find them dirt cheap  Grin

010 is all in at 2500 with 2 springs, and all in at 1500 with one.

I was out on a test drive today. It knocks on the whole scale when set to 30 degrees. (still with the 009)
Guess that means my fuel isn´t taking it, everything is "fine" when the total advance is set to 20 degrees.
