Then I fell in love with this beauty and sold my '69 Bug ;D
A fully original '64 Bug from Sweden

engine specs?

Title: Re: My Swedish Bug '64
Post by: VWGlassee on August 03, 2012, 17:28:20 pm
Thanks Guys!!

I don't have any specs about the engine because I bought it like this:

The guy who sold me the motor only knew that it was a 1835cc engine. He had a 1302 bug and sold it without the engine.
When I resprayed it, renewed a lot of parts, ... I saw that it did had Street Eliminators cilinderheads (is that the right word?).
So I don't know what camshaft it has. But normally this will be a w110 I think :)

All I know is that I'm verry happy with the engine. It runs really great!  ;D

This winter I restored the interior. I wanted it to be as close to the original color scheme.
I made the carpets myself. The seats were done by a pro off course :)

Bought a big carpet
(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm59/VWGlassee/De%2064er%20Zweed/8e29f5d60486a27ebfd6c61ca2623cfe.jpg)

After some cutting:

Done :)

Total view of dash with carpets:

Sandblasted and resprayed the frames of the seats:

And I also resprayed my 'convertible' deck lid :)

And some pics of the total car :)

Mounted a self-made 'Simpson-bar' for my Simpson harness. I've ordered a small Simspon sticker to put on the back of the bar so you can see at when looking through the rear window :)
Inside:

At the rear of the car:

And a photo I've made yesterday  ;D

Took a while to find my topic...  woops!  ???

After a couple of months of doing nothing I've found the joy again to continue to work on the car again  :)

Restored a talbot mirror:
(http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h259/yannickg1/64er%20De%20Resto/52358092-F692-4C5E-ADBB-C8B3377F6A58_zpsmp9pv7i5.jpg) (http://s66.photobucket.com/user/yannickg1/media/64er%20De%20Resto/52358092-F692-4C5E-ADBB-C8B3377F6A58_zpsmp9pv7i5.jpg.html)

Bought these  8)
(http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h259/yannickg1/64er%20De%20Resto/663D16AF-57D7-4AB0-889A-6A510B182451_zpsa4vyfit9.jpeg) (http://s66.photobucket.com/user/yannickg1/media/64er%20De%20Resto/663D16AF-57D7-4AB0-889A-6A510B182451_zpsa4vyfit9.jpeg.html)

And I also have bought this one a while ago:
(http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h259/yannickg1/64er%20De%20Resto/105_zpsjxuc0nzu.jpg) (http://s66.photobucket.com/user/yannickg1/media/64er%20De%20Resto/105_zpsjxuc0nzu.jpg.html)

Brought the body to the sandblaster
Before:

Got to love sea blue with Ercos! Beautiful.

About the 'simpson-bar', what size is the thread at the back pillar to mount the bar?

Looking great!  What size and thickness are the CMS wheels?  Where did you get them?  Do you run a narrowed beam?

It has been a while ... :D

VERY slowly getting there. The body has been welded. The inside, engine bay and trunk are ready for painting. The exterior will be done by the bodyshop.
In october the last adjustments will be made on the body and the bug has to be painted this year! I'm going to be a father this december so I want the 'dirty' work to be done before the birth of my daughter  ;D

About a month ago I’ve got the body back from the painter. The body stood 5 months at the first painter. He kept making promises bit when  I realized that this was going nowhere I picked the body up and brought her to another painter. He did a perfect job. The car is absolutely beautifull  :D
I’m now reassembling her. When she’s ready I will post pics in colour  ;D

On this day 4 years ago I started disassembling her... so far the restauration that would take about a year... ooops!  :D

Thanks guys!

Here are some more pictures of the in- en outside of the car.

Porsche 914 gauges with 911 steeringwheel (with metal hockypuck since it used to be a badwing horn button). The trim on the dashboard goes all the way from the glovebox to the gauges. Handle on the dash has been removed and switches are repositioned  ;) there is also a suction Talbot rear view mirror on the frond window.
All the other gauges are tucked away in the glovebox  8)

That’s a long time ago!  ;D
Back then I had the car for 2 years.  It was back in 2013 when I visited that show. It was the first testdrive with the CMS wheels and after fixing the car... i hit a curbwall on a wet roundabout   ::) wrecked one brm wheel, rear axle and drum!

Next year in March I will have the car 10 years... that’s crazy how time flies!

yeah, it's been a while.

I do like your car and I must say it has a lot of ideas that also are done on my car (or should be done to it when the car is done) Irish green was in the running for a few years, but I won't go for it. I do still like it a lot, but I have found other colours which suit my car and taste better. yours looks stunning.
