Title: Why I'm selling my Cal Bug
Post by: larry mck on December 10, 2011, 00:24:47 am
I've gotten a few calls asking why I'm selling my Black 67. Well I just don't use it any more. The last time out, Bug O Rama, I noticed I've only drove it 500 miles in the last 2 1/2 years. Not good for the car. It's not that I don't enjoy driving it, I do, but I always end up taking one of my other VWs. My daughter raced it at Bug O Rama because the Pro Gas bug was still broken. She turned a 12.85 in street trim on pump gas. That made me very happy, but made me think it's just wasting away in my garage. It's for sale at oldbug.com for those of you who don't know.

That's a crappy photo. How about this or my profile photo.

Is that the same engine combo as when Jimmy Roth had it, or is it a completely different combo?  I never got to see the car when it was still in the Northwest.

No, I bought it from Jimmy with no engine or trans. I then did a pan off on it then raced it in the Der Renn Kafer series with a 2275cc engine, FK89, Timms heads, 12.5:1comp, etc. Then I decided to put it back as a street car, I put in a Berg 5 speed, lowered the compression to 9.5:1 and a K8. It is still fast, 12.8, and drives mellow in traffic.

Ah, gotcha... a buddy of mine that passed away six years ago took a ride in it when Jimmy still had it... I think he had some sort of religious experience at that moment. lol.  Car looks great, which I could afford it! :-)

Seriously bad ass car, and unbelievably cheap.

One of my all time favorite 67's. Wish I had the cash.
