Hi Jim... well, the chance of my Mom getting back in my car is pretty slim. At least when the motor is in it. About 16 years I was running a big Super Flow 2276 48IDA motor in my car...my Mom didn't know what any of that meant, so she allowed me to give her a ride to the market one day. In order to get into this Safeway driveway, you had to make a U-turn on Valley Ave in Pleasanton, and then make a right into the lot. U-turns were always my favorite, crank the wheel, roll away then push harder and harder and harder, letting it all hang out in a big sideways smoke show in the middle of downtown. Mom didn't like U-turn's too much. After that she never rode in my blue car again.

ok   Jim just called me from his bug....   you guys don't believe its really me

Ask Jim about the time Mom had to drive him around in his bug because
madam judge has his driver's license.        Has he told you how fast we was going
on Bernal Avenue in front of the Alameda County Fair ground and what he raced?
He gave me a video of his frist race at Sears Point ....I watched that bug get airborne and it
reminded me of the very last time a rode in that car with him driving.
But his passion for the vw is probably because his very first Tonka car was a VW
I hope he still has it ...
The story I think he always knows I tell is the time he almost cost me a new stove.
It was when we lived in Livermore and we had a new GE self cleaning range.   While I was
out Mr Jim had painted some of his car parts....BLUE and baked them in my oven.
However,   the little darling got that damn blue paint on the liner of my self cleaning
oven.       I think I could have taken that bug apart I was so mad.   I called GE and they
connected me with one of their chemist....he sort of laughed which made me angerier
of course they had never heard of such a situation but warned me not to turn it back on
and by all means do not turn on the self cleaning...the damn thing will explode.
About 4 hours later the chemist called me back and told me to try baby oil on a Scotch
Brite pad....I didn't have baby oil but did have mineral oil .....so while having the GE guy on
the line I tried it.....Mineral oil saved Jimmy's ass.     But we did have to purchase a new
Dishwasher because he cleaned his car parts in it and the grease did not come off the interior    and sort of jammed of the pump.     Oh my Jim and that Car

No Carlos Jim wasn't adopted  but we had to buy a new car after he was born
We had a VW fast back and the seats were too high for me to be able to reach him in the
back....I can't remember if it was 70 or 71 but it was dark green, similar to british racing green with white interior....a cool car.

 Cheesy

no kidding Richard. She's got an ark full of old funny stuff I am sure. In fact the picture lingering around here of me with my "80's hair" in tux, sitting in my room with motor parts on carpet is from her. She gave it to my wife, as proof that I ruined the carpet as a kid, with cranks and cases and so on. I think there are others where I have grease covering just about our entire zip code.
