Hi guys,

as seen in my other topic "looking for a quiet exhaust"  I'm willing to learn more about exhausts.  These are probably stupid questions but I'm trying to do my homework here to become an exhaust specialist...  Grin

Okay, I think these are the measurements for beetle exhausts:  (you measure these @ the flange of the header?)

small: 1 3/8 or 35mm
bigger: 1 5/8 or 41mm
biggest: 1 3/4 or 45mm

correct me if I'm wrong or I'm missing something?   I also think these exhausts are rather small because my friend drives a rabbit and he is talking about exhausts that are 55 - 60mm big...  (more then 2 inch) it's a 1800c and there are beetles with 2276cc or bigger with smaller headers...?  Huh

Hope to learn from you guys.

You are quoting the sizes of the primary tubes, from the head to collector, but all the "cool kids" quote the actual exhaust size which would be from the collector to the exit, after the muffler as this is bigger and sounds more inpressive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check the pipe from the collector to muffler on a high powered bug and it will be 2 1/2 to 3 inch diameter Smiley

Thx Richie.

I've read a few topics and I've learned what I wanted to learn.
