That spyder ghia is cool!! It needs to loose the roll bar though and maybe add a slightly taller windsheild. Nice color.

Here are some...

Here's the only decent pictures I have of my brother in law's. This pic was taken right after Bug-in 1980. The trophy and plaque was a prop. I think the VanWilgens placed in thier dragster that day. The paint scheme was a variation of the Super Shops cars that they were giving away as a promotion. It's a crappy scan of a old picture but the colors were very tasteful and looked really good in person. The second picture was the club DVW picture from VW trends where you can see the front. The front had been smashed pretty good at one time so Gene filled the vent holes and welded the headlight rings to the fenders and filled them. The purist probably wouldn't approve, but it turned out pretty good for a beater! Gene VanWilgen was a master with Bondo!! He also did the 2 chops on the right.

Dang, Dustin... those pics sure take me back. I remember that Ghia, D.V.W. (still have one of their cards), and I was at that VW Trends photo shoot at El Dorado park, as well. Fun times! Super Shops. Haven't heard that name in decades. I drive by the old Long Beach store on P.C.H. & Orange Ave. every morning, on the way to work. My friend, Randy, painted his Ford mini-truck those theme colors like that Ghia. Used to love beating those trucks on the road, back then.

Here's a shot of Tod Fuller's and Kevan Wood's cars at one our many club events, during the early '80s.

Two prime examples of Cal Look from a memorable era.

Another view from that club photo shoot.

HA HA! When I pulled the page out of the "Archives" (aka: shoebox)Grin I noticed on the back was the DKK info like I included at the bottom of our photo. I didn't have any other pics to look for your car but figured you would recognize it!

Well, at least your "archives" vessel is much more sophisticated than mine. Which is the same mustard box that I've had my old pictures in since I was 19 or 20.

 Grin

With the way I live, they SHOULD be in one of my old Vans shoe boxes. D'OH! But the mustard box is rather big, so it houses those great memories. I'll have to scan that VW Trends cover... unless Fabian beats me to it. HAHA!!
