Title: MSD 6AL and old tachometers
Post by: Olaf/DFL on April 03, 2007, 10:04:59 am
Hi there,

I just installed an MSD 6AL Box with a Mallory distributor in my car last week. It all works very well. The only problem I have is to get my old Smiths tach working... The tach output of the MSD-box is a digital one. So I canīt use it. How did you fix it?

Cheers,
Olaf

Hey Olaf, are you sure you can't use the tach output?
I have a MSD 6AL, 010 distributor and a 30 year old sideswept autometer tach. It works on the tach output...

Hi Rune,

hmm, I read somewhere that the tach output of the MSD-box is a digital signal. So I thought that it wonīt work with my old tach... I have also heard of similar problems from other peoples some time ago. But maybe I have to check it out first when I get my tach back...

Cheers,
Olaf

Hi Olaf, I had the same difficulties with my VDO Porsche 914 tach and Mallory HyFire 6 box. The tach output didnīt work so I had to install a tach adaptor... :(
