Just to let you guys know that Judy Kawell has been sick for the past few months, and she (and Dave) are going through some tough times. I think it would be great if you guys (and gals), would take the time and send her a note, letting them both know you are thinking about them, and hope she feels better soon. Please do not e-mail them, or call, just send them a card or note (flowers perhaps!). Their address is:

Dave and Judy Kawell
781 Miller Loop
Friendship, TN 38034

Just try and keep in mind just how much both of them have helped the VW community, not to mention a bunch of you racers! Thank you for anything you can send their way....

Come on everybody, as Deano says, Dave and Judy have probably done as much or more for the VW race and performance industry as anybody. In my mind, the Kawells are right up there with Dean Lowry as people who made dramatic advances in the VW scene. Anyone who runs a turbo VW owes them a vote of thanks as they have done more than anyone in the scene to prove that turbos can – and do – work on this silly little four-cylinder motor we all love. I know I owe them a huge debt of thank for teaching me so much over the years... Smiley

lets get behind this one guys.

They have put a lot into our hobby. One of the things that got me hooked on VWs was seeing their cars with the Kawell logo down the sides in nearly every report on US drag racing in Volksworld's early years.

I know times are tough for us all but let see what we can do.

I am sorry to hear she is sick. She is a real character and both are good people. I have always thought that their contribution to Hi Po VWs has not received the recognition it deserves.

I believe the 781 is the house and technically the 787 is the workshop, but I may be wrong. You could probably write "Dave & Judy, Friendship TN 38034" and it would still get there! It's a long road to nowhere, with about a couple of properties on it and everyone knows the Kawells – the 'crazy people who moved from California'. Cool
