Title: "Nickies" - any thoughts about them
Post by: TomR on November 17, 2006, 12:34:52 pm
http://www.lnengineering.com/type1.html

Anyone tried this babies - or have some thoughts about them? Hell of a price - but if they give lifetime warranty....? But that is on the nicasil coating - other things to think of here? LN Engineering say that Type 1 ARP Head studs require 10mm case savers and must be used with Nickies - $329 there too....+ $2049 in cylinders + shipping and Taxes....are they really that good???

Am i dreaming when i hope to keep a set the rest of my entire life?  ;D

They will NOT give significant HP increase, and I can not imagine they can withstand a broken ring or piston.

I would not use my hard earned money on this, unless I had done the "rest"

But that's just me

They look really nice, but I don't think they are worth that much.
There are two gains, less friction and less heat. In Scandinavia the heat isn't a problem if you have done the other things right (all cooling tin there etc.
You can get the lower friction by installing pistons with 0.043 rings, just like the JPM piston, and they cost less then half the money.
Lower friction means less heat.
You could combine them and get a real good combo, but eating noodles both for lunch and dinner is quite boring in the long run. Trust me, I know...
