Title: gear ratios Post by: AlGhia on January 30, 2007, 14:07:13 pm What would be best for a street car in 5 speed format (top gear only)? I have a 69 ghia with 2160 on IDAs, low compression (8.8) running IDAs putting out 175 BHP, should I go for 4 close (for the strip) and really tall 5th like 082 or 089? for cruisin, or will these be too tall, particularly with a 3.88 R&P and give me cooling problems?

I have 2 AO gearboxes, which apparently should have 3.88 and 0.93... but they both have 4.12 and 0.93 - anyone else experienced this ?
