For next season I'm thinking about installing a datalog system.
Who has any experience on what system to use?

I would consider it a waste of money if you`re only logging lambda (a simple AF meter can do the same) RPM (a Autometer would do the same) and oil pressure.

You should aim higher:

- Shock travel
- Wheel spin
- Clutch slip
- Oil temperature
- Battery volt
- Fuel pressure

+ a lot more if you have turbo/Efi engine.

Looks like you heading in the right direction. I forgot head temp with VDO spark plug sensor to at least 1 or why not all 4 cylinders.

I depends how much money you plan on using.I have tried a many of them,Zeitronix,Innovate,RPM,Racepak etc.

You can buy a dash like from Racepak with built in datalogger.Or you can use a stand alone unit.The RPM Performance datalogger is nice and easy to use.I used it in the previous split window racecar, bought a used one from a promod with a lot of accessories on Racingjunk.You can expand up to 36 channels, also calibrate and use sensors from standard cars with 0-5v signal.On the RPM unit you have a signal cable from the sensors to each channel.
Randy at RPM offer good help and quick responce on emails.

The Racepak has a V-net/bus system,only one cable going out from the datalogger.Sensors are pre programmed.I use the Racepak V300SD together with UDX dash now, but the datalogger from RPM has all the information you need to at least half the price compared to Racepak.

I have a lot of Innovate stuff since years but was looking at Racepak dash and logger but now I will consider RPM.
I have seen a  lot of comments on the DL1 or was it DL10 but never investigated it until your post.

It's really hard to tell what you need if it is a turbo or naturally aspirated
It is never wrong to have the lambda probe if you have a carburetor and engine rpm for it is easier to adjust carburetors
often forget to have a throttle position sensor
I am having a turbo car would be in control of some things that boost
My system log looks like this (DL-32) lambda / engine rpm / boost / gear box RPM / fuel pressure
The LMA-3 exhaust pressure / G sensor 1 (start) G sensor 2 lateral / throttle posititon / height of the rear end / and wheel speed
and TC-4  4 EGT finally SSI -4, I have oil pressure
One can expand the system to the 32 channels for relatively little money

Hi, in my opinion you cannot beat the products from Racetechnology.

I have been using one of their DL1 loggers and dash2 displays for several years. They will log a whole range of paramaters and are easily expandable, they also provide a large range of plug and play sensors. These range from rmp modules, temp senders etc right through to wheels speed, steering position and damer pots. The system uses GPS, but laso has bult in accelerometers too.


The main factor is the software. It is super user friendly and really easy to get info from. I have used PI systems before and found the software very ahrd work. I am sure it is ok if you have a dedicated data engineer to look after things for you, but if doing your own analysis the Racetech software is unbeatable.
