It was the clutch explosions that would take off their feet that they really feared -- One of these explosions and the serious injury to Garlits feet is the reason he developed the rear engine dragster -- and the rest is history

OK, if you wanna go 'wartime', how about this:

The vehicle on the left is, of course, a US Army 'Jeep'. The vehicle on the right is... a US Army 'Jeep'!
It was crudely rebodied to look like a Kübelwagen so that Special Forces could use it at night behind enemy lines without attracting too much attention.
The 'driver' is actually a dummy, while the rear seat 'passenger' is the real driver. This is because the front-engined Jeep's driving position placed the
steering wheel and controls much further back compared to the rear-engined Kübel. Cool photo I found in the British Army REME archives.  Cool
