Well heck, if we're showing non VW Gasser's and weird Punk stuff, Here's my other toy.

Dyno --- anytime you need the special someone to take that car out for a spin, PLEASE let me know, I'd be most happy to do it for you (LOL) it reminds me of my Austin pickup with a BBC that I had on the street so many years ago --- Cheers, Harold

Nice Austin. Was that back in the early 80"s ? Or did you run back in the early days when they ran 1/2 mile drags there?

I built the truck in the early 80's and drove it around -- this video was taken in '82 at RIR and it was 1/4 mile up the back straight away -- it was more club racing at this time -- but it was always fun

Dyno --- been thinking about it and I thinking that the 1/2 mile and 1 mile events they had were at March AFB on their runways

They did run 1/2 Mile Drags at Riverside too. I know that in the early 60's they ran and SCTA was the sanctioning body - NOT NHRA. They ran a few times, my buddy Dean Lowe ran his Roadster Pickup (a HOT ROD Magazine cover car) there. There are some threads about it on the HAMB

Wow --- Having raced that track -- I wouldn't have thought that back straight would of been long enough for a 1/2 mile pass and also shut down  -- I remember the 1/4 we raced on was pretty flat but after going under the bridge there was a huge elevation change going up the hill towards turn 8 where most of the grand stands were for the road course. I remember as a kid going to March to watch the long drags -- that is one of the reasons I want to do the Mojave mile when I get my Ghia done...... Went to the Indy race at Fontana Saturday -- great race with only 25,000 people there -- it was a ghost town

Riverside used to have a straight section that went inside of where the track turned slightly left before going into turn 9. That was the shut down area.

We were season ticket holders at Fontucky for the first 10 years - we went to everything - Indy Car, NASCAR, AMA Motorcycles, IMSA, you name it. But after Greg Moore's death, we kind of faded away from the Indy Car races, then they jacked our tickets way up and we only did NASCAR and AMA, then NASCAR became too boring and now it's just the occasional Drag Race.
My wife and I were talking about the Indy Car race and wondered if the crazy heat we've been having would affect attendance.

Add just another 50 horsepower and 40 pounds off the back of a 1,200-pound car with a 72-inch wheelbase and I'd imagine it would be hard to NOT pull the wheels!  At one point I bet you'd need to steer it with a cutting brake. Wink

Totally off topic here but are those Scirocco wheels on the front? If so, how did you fit 4x100 wheels to the 4x98 pattern?
