Good work guys. The color looks killer in the booth, it sure does seem to change with lighting, or at leas how the camera captures it.

I am going to call this car the Laguna Tuna!

A couple guys up here who works for a shop called Brackman's finished the paint an body as a side job. It isn't perfect, but we didn't want a show car. For the money, I think they did a very good job. If you want I can pass along contact info.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Now the fun part begins!! Grin

I am excited to see this project in person. Has any of the reassembly started yet?

Jeremy
At this point, other than the pan getting fully dialed in, nothing has been put together. We ordered the body mounts and some other parts on Monday. Shipment came in yesterday but of course, the rear body mounts were on back-order  Angry  Got another shipment coming from them this week, so hopefully they will be included with that.  Undecided

The plan is to mount the body on the pan this weekend. Maybe hang the doors and start working on fitting up the one-piece glass. Gonna make it up this weekend?

No unfortunately I will not be able to make it. I have SCUBA class this weekend and am going to be traveling for most of the next two weeks on vacation. Have fun putting the body back on the pan and hanging the freshly painted sheet metal.

Luckily the body hit the pan yesterday, so it's starting to take up less space!

So far, so good. AssHull ordered the Universal kit, designed for a trunk mount (in a normal front engined car) so it gives you a LOT of extra wire. Even so, we'll have to extend 3 of the wires. Other than that, it looks to be something we can handle, and I hate wiring!

very cool zach, it's some great progress you guys have made!!  Cool

the wiring looks very high quality. does it also replace the fuse box up front?
and here's another thing, will you mount it under the rear seat? i know that arizona apparently looks like a desert and you guys do funny dances to make it rain, but if the sunroof is not leakproof and properly installed - of which i'm sure you will - the area under the rear seat may .. well.. flood. at least from my experience. i wouldn't want this to happen to the trick fuse box.

i hate my sunroof, i'm sure you'll recall the topic i opened about 3 years ago. please let me know what you can about the installation, i don't have the guts to even open mine. it was full of scratches before the respray and i just installed it and hardly ever touched it again. i still enjoy wetting my front seats when i give my car a good wash.

did you mount the gauges using the rubber rings porsche uses in the 914? i can't wait to see more pics of the install. very neat idea indeed!!

Yes, it uses the fuse box pictured in lieu of the stock box. We ended up going this route because the original panel that the fuse box secures to had two giant holes for speakers, when we replaced it we had a panel from a '64 (6V, smaller fuse box), so we just decided to weld up the original hole and use a modern style harness, etc. It will be mounted under the rear seat area, you shouldn't have any problems with leaking as long as the 2 rear drain tubes are still functioning properly, and lead all the way outside the car. I've had the "pleasure" of working on a few metal sunroofs, they are a bitch to set up correctly, but once in they are good to go.
Gauges are mounted just how Stuttgart planned, rubber o-rings and all Wink

Black & red is great... I just don't believe the primary colors should be mixed when it comes to paint and upholstery Wink

So, do you mean black vinyl with orange plaid inserts? That would be cool. When you say orange upholstery it makes me think of this for some reason. Oh yeah, the car is coming along great by the way. Should be killer when its done.
