I thought I was going to get to do some of the wiring work on this project but it looks like you already have it licked. If you need me I am happy to help.

So far, so good. AssHull ordered the Universal kit, designed for a trunk mount (in a normal front engined car) so it gives you a LOT of extra wire. Even so, we'll have to extend 3 of the wires. Other than that, it looks to be something we can handle, and I hate wiring!

We'd gladly pay you in beer for your help Jeremy Smiley But the wiring needs to go in now, it can't wait for you to get up here! We only have the front and rear looms routed, everything still needs to be plugged in and that's where we'll probably screw it up Cheesy

Come on Jeremy! Prescott is a great place to vacation...and I hear Lynx Lake has some pretty cool sights for scuba diving  Cheesy

We are probably gonna need some help. Running the wires was the easy part, and like Zach said, actually hooking up the wires is were we'll screw it up.

So it looks like the loom is running down the heater channel from under the back seat to the front under the hood. How are you going to get the wiring to the engine compartment? Up over the body near the drip rail like stock or simply a hole through the luggage tray?

Are you going to dynamat the floor pan and firewalls?

Wiring goes to the back just like stock. AssHull is going to set up a quick disconnect for the engine wiring. I'll Dynamat the floors (we're a dealer now and can get a good deal on it), and use carpet pad on the firewall and behind the panels. AssHull wants it quiet Wink

It's coming along, nothing worth posting pictures. Fitted up the front fenders, got a 16 gallon fuel tank from cip1.com, gas struts to replace the hood springs, Fruitcake returned my IDAs' (along with a bunch of jets!), and we tore the shortblock back down and put it back together... long story. Also, wiring is not my forte, I really could use a hand there!

We tried to fit up the decklid a couple weekends ago and couldn't get it adjusted right, it had a solid 3/4" gap to the body. Took a closer look and found the hinge mounts to the body are tearing/pulling down. I don't know how I missed that during metal work, I had the body upside down and I welded/fixed the bottom side of the hinge mounts, but somehow missed this. I'm pretty well pissed off about having to weld on a freshly painted car. At least it's way up where it can't be seen easily, and we've got a spray bomb of matching paint to help hide the mishap. Ohh well...

I saw the car in person yesterday and it looks better in person.  Gonna be a very nice car.  I love the little Porsche gages and the layout with the ignition on the left.  I may just have to help with the wiring...

AssHull & I made big progress on his car last weekend! Steering column in, fuel system installed, parking brake & shifter hooked up. Even messed with the 1915 a little. That is NOT the final steering wheel!

They work just like Porsche intended... big rubber grommets around each gauge, presses right in the opening Smiley

Zach, in order to install them that way, are the holes larger than the gauges?
I have all the grommets, perhaps I should enlarge the holes for the gauges and install them properly since I'm not using them at the moment.

The holes are larger than the gauges. A tach will fit without the rubber in the stock speedo hole if you trim the hole slightly. In order to use the rubber grommets, the hole must not just a hole... it has to have a lip that extends in, giving the rubber something to grab on to. That is why we used the 914 panel instead of just filling the dash and drilling holes, it allowed the gauges to mount up just as they were designed to.

Hahaha no holiday, not til next week! Wink Been trying to make some real progress before posting more pics, but here goes... 16 gallon fuel tank is powdercoated and installed, headlights are wired (SB12's are just hanging there at the moment), Tim Tesnow/Sil Modesti t-bars fitted up, etc. A few more wiring jobs are still left...

I've got a whole mess of things to worry about before the fuel indicator is a priority Wink Since the fuel tank is a whole lot taller than the original tank, I'm sure everything will be screwed up Roll Eyes
