AssHull was insistent that he be able to have quiet, long and meaningful conversations whilst on road trips with his lovely new bride.

In all honesty I think he plans on doing some road trips in this car, hence the 16 gallon fuel tank, sound deadening, and modest stereo. Who says a stereo isn't cal look?? Many of the cars built "back in the day" were so equipped. As long as there isn't amplifiers in the trunk, and big subwoofers in the back, I say it's all good Smiley

Trying to get the headliner in before Phoenix BOR this weekend, but there's a slight hold up...

I'm anxious to see the biscuit door panels...for reasons of my own, of course.  Where did you guys get the glove box for mounting the stereo.  Nice idea to keep it hidden from view. I have some kick panels for speakers like AssHulls and may consider a stereo in the chop. Unfortunately I think the IDA motor will drown it out.

The glove box came from Glass-Action (vwinnovations.com), operated by a guy up here in Prescott Valley. It was formerly Innovations in Fiberglass, you may remember it from the Phoenix BOR's a few years ago. It's... okay. It seems to me that there are a few slight modifications he could make in the mold to make it a lot better. It works though.
This car is getting an IDA motor as well, and a good amount of sound deadening to make the stereo audible. When we gave it a trial run, it seemed plenty loud. I'm sure being surrounded by four speakers, even though small, help a lot.

Did you make it to the show?? The swap was great Smiley

If you go to FRY's Electronics, they have a pretty good supply of these type aluminum boxes that you can install a GM type fuse block inside of.  They are relatively inexpensive and you don't have to fabricate it.  They have them in Aluminum sheet, cast aluminum and I believe steel.  We used a cast aluminum one to do all the wiring on my old off road car.  It turned out very  clean.

Did a whole bunch of work tonight in order to make up this panel, which eventually will be upholstered in vinyl. Behind that panel is a layer of carpet pad, and Dynamat on the metal. When you knock on the firewall from the motor side you get a nice solid "thud" Smiley

Finally, the headliner is ready to go in!

Yep, everything's from WW. The felt seals are fine, the plastics are ok, took a little adjustment to make them fit... but it's all you can get. The cables are from WW, too, and I had to ream out the hole in the back of the sunroof to get the pins to fit.
