Thats really cool that you'll be at Santa Pod  ;D I knew it wouldn't be long ;)  :) (Although I thought that there was a conspiracy theory that VW racing at Santa Pod was done  ;) )

Really well done though, the club is extremely professional and is a credit to VW racing  :)

I can't wait to see this, in fact I will be at Bug Jam for three days rather than just one as in previous years.

I will also be venturing across to Shakespeare County Raceway as well.

Gotta love that air cooled pan draggin' ;D

More power, quite literally, to the Outlaws.

Have checked with DFDS Tor Line regarding a trip for us to Bug Jam,they have freight ships going from Göteborg in Sweden to Tilbury-UK.They leave from Göteborg on Tuesday, and arrive back in Göteborg on Thursday the week after.Got the price today on boat only,21000 Nkr or approx 2000 GBP..  :-\

Did you check the Brevik (Telemark) to Immingham?

Less than half price from what I can see on their home page:

When we enquired about Immingham to Brevvik for SCC it came out to be around £1800 for 4 people, Motorhome and Trailor. If you are only going 2 people it was around £1400/£1500.

If anyone does decide to do this, we can always meet you as Immingham is only 55 minutes from us, and only 2/2.5hrs towing from Santa POD.

If we can help at all please let us know!! We also have spare beds and room for a Trailor/s  if anyone wants to stop after Bug Jam, if you are travelling back the following week :)

Me and a friend plan to visit Bug Jam this year. So I wonder if some one know how much the ferry cost between Calais and Dover for one car and two pers. Can one just show up before the ferry leave the port, or must you reserve a head....

This years Bug Jam is gonna be awesome - a really great turn out from O/FF. I just hope I get a chance to watch you guys on the track rather from from the pairing lanes.

Adele, I saw your '11' great stuff.

See you all a week Thursday.

Book ahead, if you arrive early they normally put you on the next available ferry.  Book online and its normally a maximum of £100.  Try Norfolk line Dunkirk to Dover, normally cheaper.

Matt, how do you know what springs etc to order if you haven't corner-weighted the car? ???

All calculations thus far have proved to be bunk. The car weighs 737 kg, of which 255 is up front and 482 is on the blunt end. Taking into account the positioning of the shocks, angle and distance from pivot point is not as easy as simple math. Sometimes you just have to suck it and see. I am going for an educated guess and have ordered several sets of heavier springs. It will work eventually, I just need to play around with spring pressures and valving. Taking Russ' car as a base line I worked out the difference in distance from the pivot/spring points and calculated the initial spring pressures. They are much heavier than Russ' even though his car weighs 400 lb more than mine. My sums said 600lb springs and that proved to be way off the mark. I am now going up in spring rate considerably and will work from there onwards.

Speaking to Dave Dinning a lot over the last few weeks helped massively. Dave's experience was very similar to mine. He did all the corner weighing stuff and still went through six or seven sets of springs before he hit the nail on the head. Incidentally, Dave now runs double the spring rate that he once started off with... The proof in the pudding is in the tasting. Mnnnnn, pudding... ;D

Me and Russ had the very same convertaion, we think his springs are way to soft, it the fact that the car runs on the T2 bump stops once it launches. the likes of me and you dont have this facility.

Are you going to up your spring rate as well Martin? After that slo-mo vid it would appear your ass is soggy, too! Unless of course you are using your muffler as a wheelie bar ;D

Yeah the car is off to Websters next month, it looks like the conversion i did to the trans has let the suspension do what its suppose to do!  were also looking at the aero stuff seeing as the car is starting to fly!
