That's Mike Lawless' Ghia with his son Mark driving. It usually runs 11.40s-11.60s.

So, we take the Blue Car to Famoso so my son Mark can make a few runs in the car as a tune-up for the Sacramento Bugorama on Labor Day weekend. Mark will be driving for that event. At that event he will running in the  11.90 index Super Gas class on a .4 pro tree. Since we had the 11.60 index/ .5 pro tree set-up on it, and it's been May since Mark drove, both the car and driver needed tuning.

It's an absolutely beuatiful night, with temps in the comfort zone.

So, I tighten up the clutch and make a few other adjustments, and his first run is 11.67 with a .027 RT. I'm thinkin' "Dang! the kid hasn't been in the car since May and right outta the gate he rips off  an .027 reaction? On a .4 tree? Double dang!"
On his second run, he gets a single and switches lanes. This run netted an 11.74 and a .074 RT. Ok, so he missed by a little on the tree, but considering the rustiness, still really good. The 11.74 gets us closer to 11.90, but a little left to go.

For the third run, there is a big surprise. Former VW PRA pro mod record holder Eric Calabrese in the "Red Baron' is in the other lane. One of the fastest VW door cars in the world.

Mark does his thing and trees the Baron with a .065 light to the Baron's .158. After the launch, Mark said "That car got really small, really fast! Mark ran an almost there 11.85 while the Baron ran, for only the second time ever, 7.97 at 179mph.

THAT folks, would shatter the current Pro Mod VW record and makes the Red Baron the fastest VW door car on earth and it happened on a TnT night at Famoso!

We made one more run, but backed 'er down a little too far and ran 12.13, but Mark still ripped off a .022 RT!

Our work was done.

But now I gotta put the 11.60/.5 pro tree set-up back in and try to keep from being "Red Light Mike" at the ANRA race this coming weekend.

We have the time slip with their info since we were in the other lane. It'll be up to them to put that info out there if they so choose.
