hy as you  know my 61 have a 1200cc with some extra hp  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes yes now 55/60hp , but  my rear tyre are brigestone sf 321 205/?/15 , and for the look those are right but , but too large/heavy to tractor draw/draw for my small engine , and today i tested some wheels  and my old flat4 brm had some  xzx 165 tyres , and put those on the rear brake drums , to have an idea of the look and  the place that this one takes in the wing , but for me the 165 is too small .
 I am between 2 ideas to put of the 175/70/15 or the 185/70/15; but I would go more quickly towards the 185/70/15 , and what think of one 195, this while holding account which I have only one 1200  Roll Eyes
if you could deliver your opinion and your experiment in connection with the size of the tires that would help me much
here's some pictures i took today  , the empi 5 are in 205 and the brms in 165 what a difference  Shocked Shocked
can you post pictures of your rear tyres and the diemnsions/sizes

mmh, i think your back-end is slightly higher than stock anyhow.
but if i remember correctly kurt runs 185/70/15 pirellis and those look pretty darn good too. but that does mean you'd have to lower the rear slightly...

Aspect ratio is a tricky thing with a 70 profile the height of the tyre diminishes the narrower you decide to go , and with 50 ->60 bhp on tap 205"s are of very little gain to you in traction or launch but will be of benefit at top end with a taller tyre , where the 165 or even dare I say a 155 would be of more benefit to you with the 1200 . I would be looking for a 175 75 15 to give you a taller tyre with a wider look and to not put you 50-> 60 bhp to waste .

very true, however, a 175/75/15 is as tall as a 165r15. so dare i say that the gap with the fender then remains...

I would go with a 185/70x15  or if you want a little wider go with a 195/65x15 they are the same tall as the 185/70 just a little wider I Think the 205's look to big on the cars because most of the wheels are 5 or 5.5 inches wide  Look at Mike Billings Car it has 185/70x15 CN36's on the rear and 175/70x15 CN36's on the front to me those are the Perfect Tire on a Cal Look But Very hard to find these Days

not to ruin your game, but billings ran 215/60s according to the feature in HotVWs. the KG/KS choptop did run 185/70s Cinturatos.
and i agree, some of the 205s just don't suit the wheels/car.

Fabs, that's the only thing that is out of sorts with your car...the big rear tires.  I think for the time period your car represents, 165s all around with the car sitting mostly level, or maybe 165 rear/155 fronts would be ideal.  A good reference would be Dave Galassi's Pepco sunroof.

I'm also thinking that. I will use 165 but lowered a little the rear. It seems a little bite higher than stock.  Huh
In lot's of old magazine I read, car run on 165-15 and 135 or 145-15 tyres front.

185/70 has 4,2% smaller circumference compared to the 205/70. The 165/80-15 is 3,4% smaller.
Personally I´d go for the 185/70 as i think the 165´s is just too small.

I have 165s on the back of my car. They look okay on the '67 but a bit on the skinny side. With the narrower rear axles on Fab's car I think they would look even narrower. I would go with the 185s.

185/70 is the only way to fly. That is the route I plan on taking with my GTV...
