That is enough to piss off the Pope!

Maybe you can get a piece of glass cut to fit, then some black vinyl in the right shape will get you close.

I would contact Autometer directly and see if they possibly could come up with a replacement. (miracles do happen !)
If not I would have a new glass cut and a have it silk-screened to match your original.

I live just down the road from autometer and have stopped by for repairs before. They installed a new glass and bezel while I waited. Give 'em a call or email and see what they can do.

Yes, Autometer has been great to me too for "issues" in the past.  Definitely contact them.  Cory Villani was very helpful to me.

That's a bummer, but I think you can fix it realy nice, maybe you can use lexan in stead of glass so you can do some weightreduction...  Grin  good luck by fixing it!

That sucks Frank..
I love those tachs, have two or them myself..  I don't think it should be a problem to replicate the glass and the silk screen though.. Good luck.

Is it easy to take the collar of? I have a dent in it on one of my tachs that I would like to fix..

My ex-girlfriend managed to slam my truck door shut while my 65-67 day/night rear view mirror was in the way. Dont see many of those around, do you? De-fucking-stroyed it Angry I almost had a damned coronary. She asked, "Well how much is a new one??" Yeah, right. Ill just pop over to Pep Boys and grab another off the god damned shelf.
Lucky for her I found a replacement that is almost as nice  Undecided

Good to hear you found a replacement almost as nice. Even if she's not quite as nice, hopefully she's not breaking parts  Grin

I was doing work on my '67 (replacing the roof!!), and it was sliding around happily in the back seat of my truck before she came along!! Slid down, and fell in the door jamb Sad I never let her get near the "new" one!!  Cheesy

Good luck on the tach Frank! Let us know how it turns out Smiley

Okay Guys,

I sent the Tach back to Autometer an this is what they replied via E-mail... Cry Cry Cry

Frank,

We have tested your tachometer. It is totally non-functional. This particular product was obsoleted in 1985. We no longer have parts to service it. We can either send it back to you as-is or scrap it. Please let me know how you would like us to proceed.

That would be just a stock reply from Autometer, who are only interested in selling you a new tach. There are plenty of companies that could repair that for you, I am sure. Have a look through the back pages of one of the classic car magazines – if it was the tach from a 1960s Ferrari, you just know it would be 'repairable'! Wink
