Yep it is!
You just need that little brass T-piece so you can mount that temp and pressure sender unit there. VDO has these...
I'm not sure where I got mine from (I geuss BBT) but they are easy to find!

Not sure if these are VDO senders? I had a VDO pressure sender, but I do not know if I used it on this engine or on the 1776cc engine...

Some more work done!

I took the body off the chassis and fixed it to the rotissary so I can weld/clean the underside!

It is not becasue the works on the oval body are not proceeding, I stopped collection parts...

Latest acquisition:  A genuine set of Italian made 48IDA's... They just arrived from the States:-)






This set has 37mm venturis, F11 emulsion tubes with 135mains. As Idle jet is has a 65F10 in a 120 holder... 
Does this sounds about right for a SCAT 78.8 * 94 engine with SCAT mini-D port heads?? As a cam I still need to decide, but I would prefer one from the Webcam range and to be used with standard ratio rockers and a 8.5 CR.

I would like to focus more on torque then on horsepower... I would like an engine in which I can drive to the VW nationals (500km single trip) or the VolksWorld show (400km) without second thoughts!

Any input is appreciated! Any engine combo's you know of I can compare with??

According to the Weber manual I should get an F7 emulsion tube and I really want the lower main jet holder so I can place the middle copper screens.

So, things I still need:
   4  F7 emulsion tubes
   4  low main jet holders
   2 copper screens
   2  low 48IDA manifolds (as the Berg manifolds)
If anyone has these for sale, send me a PM or mail Wink!

Hi Peter, we have recently tuned my club mate Christianīs 2110ccm type 1 with a LM 1. If I remember correctly the jetting (we were looking for Lambda about 0,85) he now has is as follows:

- 48 IDA with 37mm venturis (no thrid progression hole drilled)
- 140 mains
- 220 air correction
- 70F? idle jets (were too rich, but we had no smaller jet...)
- F7 emulsion tubes

The engine has lots of torque with these jets but is lacking top end power.
Here are the specs:

- 2110ccm (76,4 waterboxer crank, 94mm notched P/C)
- 10.8:1 CR
- Street Eliminator heads, mildly ported, 42/37,5mm valves
- FK 87 with 1:1.4 rockers
- Udo Becker manifolds

I guess that your combo is similar to Christianīs combo so maybe his jetting is a good start for you...

Hi Tobi,

Sounds like the vents are holding your friends top end back. I would switch up to a 40mm vent and re-jet.

In my 2275

94X82
044 super mags (44X37.5) p&p by K-roc
web cam 86b with old school scat 1.25 (measure out at 1.38)
9.0:1CR
48 IDA's - ran both 37mm vents and 42mm vents - jetted with LM-1

With the 37's it went 14's at 90+mph in the quarter.

Switched out to 42mm vents went 13.4 at 102mph in the quarter

The car is a 54 sunroof (1900lbs with me in it) Stock 4.12 tranny only using 3 gears.

Hey Tobi,

so no 3th progression hole drilled either? Mine have not been drilled sofar and the US dude has been driving like this on his 2,2engine (now he stepped up to 2,4 with 51IDA's)... so I guess I will not drill it immediately, I will see what it gives first.

I would not mind loosing a bit in the top end power, as long as the car has lots of torque and can cruise nicely but be responsve when I feel like pushing it! I'm not planning on building a 1/4mile racer, but a streetcar. I want to drive it!!
 

Rob, do you like the 86b or would you consider a diffent cam?? Any idea what the jetting in your carbs is??

thatīs just what we thought so next week the will be another jetting session...this time with 40mm vents.;-)

Peter, the 3rd hole isnīt drilled, yet. I wouldnīt recommend drilling it before you have done some test runs. If wonīt get a good progression with differnet jettings, I would at first try other emulsion tubes. If that doesnīt work as well you can still drill the holes...

I think you'll find the engine comes to life with the bigger vents.

Peter,

In the past I've used the engle 120 and 125 in my 1914's - They were nice. The 86b was recommended by the guy that did my heads (K-roc - in our club) It is a nice cam, comes on strong and pulls hard all the way up. The thinking is that for a street car with stock gears - a little less duration helps build more cylinder pressure and hence more torque. The heads help with the breathing up top so I don't run out of steam.

I do have the third progession hole. The jetting right now is F7 - depending on the track conditions I run a 160 or 165 main and anywhere from a 190 to 210 air.  Our track is near sea level. For idles I run a 120 air with a 65 - Bruce in our club recommends soldering up the 120 and then re drilling to a 110 or 115 - I still have to do this.

To give you an idea of the torque -



This is a 3500 - 4000 launch with out a burnout.

Damn that is nice! And you are doing that with a stock tranny, or is it a stonger gearbox, but with the standard ratio gears?? If it is a standard box, no fear of breaking it doing this?? Which shocks do you run up front?

I wanted to keep an original gearbox as well (at first anyway), but I as thinking of converting to IRS for several reasons:
-  I have a good 1303S geabox laying here, no decent SA gearbox (so nice highway cruising)
-  Handling due to IRS set-up
-  Easy to change gearboxes in case you break it (really important!), you do not need to touch the brakes while changing the box
-  Since I plan on driving it regularly on the streets and I want to run FUCHS wheels (4,5 and 6), the obvious choice for disks are Porsche 944 disks (super easy with these a-arms and cheap cmpared to other diskbrake converions)

I know, maybe not 100% in line with the cal-look theme, but I consider these important safety upgrades.... But I just need to check if the 6"FUCHS with 205 tyres will still fit the original fender with this IRS set-up...
