Title: Old gasser style
Post by: j-f on October 06, 2008, 18:21:13 pm
Some weeks ago, we go with friends to save a 51 (?) Split window bug from the wood.

We have to cut it in 2 parts to take it out the woods where it was stuck ...

First plans was to cut the parts we can save as dashboard, rear windows etc... But,as always, plan has changed. ::)

Just for fun, we decide to put the car on a chassis I have and make it looks like an old gasser/ cal look that has sit in a junkyard for decades...

Here is  how it looks now.  ;)

And just for fun.

So, no, I'm not in Rat's style, but we find funny to make a such rebirth.

Are you sure this split can't be saved ? Maybe there's something to do with it.

Yes, I'm sure it is the end of the road for this one  :'(

I'm never frightened by some welding, but this time it's definitively too late.

This how we find it :o

No, it could go again! New floorpan, full cage, and hang whats left of the body off the cage! Even put a new pair of channels onto the pan and you might have enough body left to weld it in place! ;D

If it is being sent for scrap though, I need the ashtray and dashtrims for my '51... ;)

Mmmm why not trying to rebuilt something for the dragstrips with a later body + pan + poly elements... That could be a nice winter challenge J-F !

I'm wonder how your wife will react if you put this in your garden  ::)

Yes, we found it in a wood between Rochefort and Han sur Lesse.  ;)

You are kidding, aren't you  :o
If I'm going to spend money to put a car on the strip, I will do it the right way  ;) And I will not take a such basis  ::) (Even if it is now really light with all the rust that's eating the metal  ;D ;D )

We will show to the hoodride guy what's a real hoodride is  ;D  ::) ::) ::)

No, in fact, we put the car together to display it at a vw show that friends organized. Just as a joke.  ;) But we were too late for this year.  :-\

So, no hoodride, rat's ride or other silly name ride  ;)

Just a good laugh with friends. With spend 2 or 3 afternoon to weld it on a floorpan and shared some beers.  ;)
