Hi There,

The season is almost done for this year and with the winter in front I'm thinking about tuning my 78,4 x 90,5 engine some more!
This are the specs now:

78,4 crank from CB performance
90,5 Cil. Pist. form Mahle
Cb Performance 5,500 inch Rods
Scat C45 Camshaft
Straight cut camgears
Scat lube a lobe lifters
Chromo pushrods
lightened flywheel
Cb Peformance 044 heads with 35,5 x 40 valves, intakes are D-ports now
1.1 original rockers with Cb rockershafts
Cr: 9,5
Weber 48mm Idas
Msd 6al and 009 distributor with Golf 2 electronic ignition
1 5/8 exhaust from Vw speedshop

Now it produces 131 Hp and 194 Nm, the engine runs great but theres more in it and the reving stops at 6200 rpm.

Things i want to change are:

- Camshaft: Webcam 86b, 86c, 226, Engle Fk8, fk10 ??
- Lifters: maybe lighter
- Rockers: 1.25 or 1.4
- I want to keep the 35,5 x 40 valves but make the intake and outlet ports bigger
- Put an MSD distributor on it
- Put some MSD 8,5mm wires on it
- Compression to 10 ??

Any suggestions about the cam? etc......
I'm aiming to get more out of the small valves, cause new Cil heads would be to expensive Sad
And i wanna take it more to the strip next season, but it must be "drivable" on the street Smiley

Cheers!!

I've only got exp. with the engle cam's. W130 runs great and will do on your's.  Get some more lift cam then the C45 and longer duration (300+)

More porting on the heads that i've done, exhaust and intake.

Bigger vent's let say around 40-42

Maybe if not enought some 1.25's that is always possible in the end.

C/R to 10 indeed.

--------------------------------------

My 'old' w120 would'nt rev so easy to 6000, but now with my bigger cam and carbs 8000 is no problem.

I can do some 94 work on the case/heads for a veryyy nice price Smiley and maybe got some spare pistons for you.

Martijn! I know about the cam, but im waiting for some opinions from guys who can tell me wich cams are the best to use on this combo out of there experience.
Im not going to use the FK8 (little to mild i think)
But what about the Webcam camshafts? Does someone  have good experience with the 86c or 226?
And what should be the maximum for the 40 x 35,5 valves (3 angle valve job) in this combo?

Cheers  Smiley

I'll refrain from preaching my theoretical knowledge here - but not from self-mockery I suppose - but have a look at other people's specs and perhaps try to get a hold of them personally.
Honestly, if it were me I'd make one swap : W-140, could be because of this old car, though  Roll Eyes

Hi Died!
That car has a nice engine!! and 160 hp with 40 x 35,5 valves  Smiley not bad!

But I'm not going to use a Engle W cam.....
I am only with the Webcam on my mind now, The 226 and the 86c. Both have a huge lift and i think that's what i need with the smaller valves.

Is there anybody with 2017cc and Webcam experience??

Hi Jeepee!

I Dint forget that freeking thing Cheesy, theres a super diff in it allready but last season i broke all the teeth of the diff! After that its rebuild but now there is coming a strange noise out of it. So the gearbox is going to be rebuild for the 3th time now Smiley

Hi Paul, i can give you as much info as i can. But i did only a few posts in "Hurry's Final T1 2165 ?" Due to the fact that i'm right now dismanteling the engine (and learn). Received Udo's lifters and flycut UD heads to get 10,5. Next week i will remove the tranny as well, Udo will be taking care of it.
(Quality wise Web is second to none, my 2 cts). Now i will be using 86B with 1:4 rockers.

Good to see you man !

hey died, look at the gearbox specs of that beautifull car you posted. damn close if you ask me. even with that 5 gear is only a short beetle gearbox. so that means the w140 wants revs. ask Dokke he has one in his dragcar.
